Anyone done any gardening today? Part 5

  • Hi @Suesyn
The only plants we are going to take, are the ones in large pots. The garden in the new home is well stocked. We decided that basically, we would start afresh.
Moving home is always stressful. I began thinking about how many times I have moved and was staggered to find it amounted to nine times! Now I am trying to declutter so that if and when necessary, I could live downstairs here. None of us know what is in the future for us, I had never thought I might not be able to garden anymore which I should probably have done, and found somewhere with a smaller garden but I fell in love with the location and isolation of where I am. Great when you are fit and healthy, not so good when you develop health problems.
Try to think of it as a new start with the opportunity to put your mark on the house and garden, with all the conveniences that your current home does not have.
    Good luck. Try to enjoy.

Hello , just done a few jobs in Greenhouse - reduced the number of tiny lemons 🍋 on bush as there grow in clusters - repotted 6 Rosemary cuttings that had rooted into bigger pots - repotted 3 baby zebra Catus from the main plant
Got some green fly on a chilli plant so every so often quash them

Hello , after rain on Friday the stream at the side of garden has risen so high it’s covering the paths on the bank and gone into fields but not into garden , never been so high !
However had to dig a little rill across garden to stream as water is coming under fence from next door
Water bubbling up from mine and next doors drain covers at front of houses
    Centre of Village flooded

On a positive note spent day in garden tidying up , so many little jobs done to many to list
  • On Sunday I forfeited a morning of gardening weather to take my dog for a walk on the beach. The world and his dog seemed to be there, it did both of us good. Just missed the first downpour on the way home.
Loads of clearing up still to do in the garden. Everything is still growing as it is still mild.

Dry today so finished a few jobs like cutting back Lavender, sweeping leaves, de-mossing the steps, kicking a few apples, more leaf sweeping…

Wasp nest in front garden is still active (hidden in stone wall), maybe less so.  I wonder when they will ‘retire’?
My garden and I live in South Wales.

@purplerallim - Hello , have you been effected by all this Lincolnshire Rain ☔️?

On a quick break from chair reupholstering, I dashed outside to prune an euronymus at the side of the driveway - I'd got my car wing mirror caught up in it this morning. Been meaning to do that for the last week or so. Our drive is narrower in the middle for some strange reason - a previous owner obviously couldn't build the retaining wall in a straight line. While I was there, I also pruned back an overhanging caryopteris further down. We're having the drive re-tarmaced in the next  few weeks so am also thinking of diggers/tampers/workmen etc.

    Hi @GWRS
We have luckily been ok, the bungalow is on a slight slope which means the water drains down to the road, everywhere is sodden, but ok. Did your beck stay in the field and not your garden, and did the channel work from the neighbours runoff?
Has under the bridge at Potterhanworth filled up do you know?
  • In between having removal firms quote, I've forced a house move on a slug, around 100 snails, and numerous other small creatures. Our slow-worm and family have been relocated to a quiet corner of the garden. My wife was definitely NOT happy about taking them with us. Removal firms WON'T shift livestock - although, since they will be moving a couple of dozen large pot plants, effectively there WILL be some going.
Still awaiting the definite decision on the move, and there's less than two weeks before our latest possible exchange date is reached.
    Yikes!!
