I noticed you were local in a previous thread. You are lucky to have an allotment as they are becoming rare. Only went to Anwick once not impressed that's why I use Ruskington @GWRS . Just looked up collingham, I have been.🙂

No gardening today, had a walk round and lots of plants have appreciated the recent rain and are growing quickly, especially in the pots.  Frog spawn in the pond.

  • Cut the dead Michaelmas Daisy stems down to 1 inch this afternoon, noticed the new growth is already showing through the earth, also cut some sedum pink ice(?) down too. Potted up 3 new dahlia Happy Days - red flower into 3 large pots, leaving a space to allow a low growing bedding plant to be incorporated into the display.

Dug up some more spanish bluebells this morning, and also pulled out a load of some kind of small allium that appeared a few years ago (I'm sure I didn't plant them) and are spreading like fury.  They have insiginificant white flowers (and not many of them) but heaps and heaps of lanky foliage.  Fortunately they're a lot easier to get out than the bluebells!

We had the side hedge hard pruned back to the dwarf wall/fence. It's taken me 12 years to pluck up the courage to do it, they took 3ft off the side. It's a mix of box (which is unlikely to regenerate well because it's so old) and euronymus ovata aurea which does grow well and fairly fast so we'll see what happens. It looks fairly awful (especially for the neighbours opposite) but it had to be done!

I don't know, I think it looks quite sculptural.

I'm Lincolnshire based, too. Didn't know about the Collingham GC, may give it a go, thanks.

PS My fave 'local' one is Reg Taylor's at Southwell, and they're always helpful with advice, too.

Thanks @JennyJ , I must confess it does look neater than I was expecting. It's the 'working' side of our garden so I must tidy up on the inside!
