Managed to hoe round the brassicas, & do some strimming before the rain came again, but I am happy, like Flintster the ground was so dry it's just soaked it all up like a sponge so far. One of my  large Dahlias had a dry rain shadow under it even after the heavy rain Monday day/ night.

Not today wife had physio therapy and oxygen chamber this morning and I had my usual massage so just relaxing this afternoon.
My timber stakes have arrived this afternoon so I can plant my Brussels Sprouts tomorrow and get them netted weather permitting.
The forecast is reasonable for us.🤞

Managed to do some deadheading and cut back things such as salvias that have been battered by the rain. Dug out a pink that had virtually collapsed under the weight of flowers, stuck it in a trug undercover while l decide what to do with it.  Also saved a bee with the sugar water, first time to my knowledge that I have been successful :)
Everything is so wet, we had this afternoon as a dry "window",  then more rain again tomorrow. Forecast looks much better for next week 🤞

It was dry this morning so was able to staple netting to the new fence and rescue a jasmine, clematis and honeysuckle from their protective casings and tie them to the netting - a very fiddly job which seemed to take hours. Then I pulled out as much ivy from the base of the fence as I could, pruned the pittospormum (lots of dead twiggy bits and getting too near the bedroom window). Going to tackle the old viburnum next and take all the ivy off that.

It stopped raining about 6 pm so I rushed round the garden and deadheaded the roses, most of which were brown soggy messes - such a shame it had to rain so hard when they were at their best.

Only able to do a quick check around before it started chucking it down again. A wheel barrow which is on the patio for now was empty but now has over 4 inches of water in it. We still have light rain but they say is will be dry tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Not so much gardening, more bailing out. Took the dahlias out of the greenhouse and tucked them into as many sheltered places as l could find. Hung up one of the hanging basket of tomatoes - l gave some to a neighbour who asked me if I was sure that they were basket toms as they seemed very upright,  and l assured him they were. Looking at them now, l too have my doubts.  I took one out of a basket and have put it in a pot with some support . Think l may be contacting the supplier !
Cut back nemesias that have fallen to the ground with the weight of the wet flowers, and deadheaded a rose that had done the same. I have a helianthemum "Lemon Queen" fighting to get out of it's pot and the perfect place to put it,  but guess what...it's raining again.
66mm (over 2.5 inches) since the beginning of the week. Not as much as some have had, l know, but enough for me for now.

Finally managed to get out at 2.30 this afternoon. OH screwed more vine eyes on the outside of the new fence, threaded thro the wires and then gave me a hand to lift four strands of 24ft long wisteria canes which we then tied onto the wires. Thrilled to see that my climbing red rose 'Etoile du Hollande' has survived under the wisteria and has even got some buds. Just got to wait now for it to climb once more. I also moved all the big pots back into the courtyard. Tired now but very happy.

Rained most of the day, but did power wash the shady end of my patio. Managed an hour of gardening this evening - which was mainly removing brambles and bindweed which had obviously been enjoying the rainy week. Caught a few slugs making a move on my carrots (didn’t put any wool pellets on those 🙄), and one of my pea plants has been munched, but generally the veg pots are doing well.
