Rehung my hanging baskets with cable ties and the winds started again , hears hoping they stay on !!
  • Watered and fed some clematis this morning.  Bought the pavement urns in as the roadworks are now right outside our house. Sowed more flower seeds - honesty, hollyhock etc. First radish seeds have germinated, in roughly 7 days!

No gardening today as I took a tumble in the garden yesterday trying to take a wheelbarrow up a raised narrow path. I fell in a rose bush and sliced my leg on the side of the path. Went to A&E for stitches.
  •  We’re at war with a resident alpha grey squirrel, the most persistent little git ever seen in north London, I reckon.
Spent several hours squirrel proofing the bird feeder, to prevent more sunflower seed raids, that are costing a fortune 🙄
Then spent a couple of hours deadheading, digging in manure and mulching where there are no bulbs coming up.
The sun even put in an appearance, briefly, which was lovely.

  • @dappledshade mix hot chilli powder with your bird seed (2-3 teaspoons in a bag of seed) it will soon put the squirrels off & the birds actually like it,  they don't have the same heat receptors as mammals. Just be careful when you refill the feeders that you don't breathe it in or get it in your eyes.!

I've just chainsawed up a lovely old lilac tree that the wind has blown down, very luckily it missed my Musa basjoo and 3 6ft tree ferns. Room for a new Paulownia tree now

Not sure what I'll do with the rambling rose that we planted under last year, would I be able to move it ?

Walked round admiring the crocuses before they get blitzed by the storm tonight

    Hope you recover quickly.

Nothing done from me, just stared out at the rain a bit.
  • Hope you recover quickly @floralies, did that a couple of years ago but luckily just ended up black and blue, take it easy for a while.🙂
