There's bits of lots of them I love.
I love the rammed earth walls in the M&G garden.
I love the alcove in the English garden.
I love the structure in Wedgwood garden, and those in David Harber's garden.
Can I throw a shout out for the rather lovely designer of the Cornwall garden? ( or is that just being greedy?)
Overall I love the Eco city garden, the little Japanese garden is divine, as always. the Yorkshire garden is, unquestionably a work of art, but for me we've seen it all before,( Cornish tin mines, lock gates, railway signalboxes etc) but I feel, CB ticks all the boxes this year.

Regarding Monty and the conversation with the RHS judge.  Following that he was looking at one of the gardens, mentioned that it has to match up to certain criteria and that he didn't know what the criteria were.  He then states that it's an obvious Gold anyway.
Did he take no notice at all of what the judge said?  It could be the most beautiful garden ever produced but if it didn't fulfil the brief it couldn't get a Gold.

Does Monty ever take notice of anyone? It's " his way , or the highway" as the yanks would say.

Thanks for posting the photos Chicky.   Not a yellow person but I loved your favourite garden too.  My two favourites were the Yorkshire garden and the japanese garden.  Like CB's too.  Does anyone else find Mark Lane irritating.

  • Cracking pics. Thanks for posting.  :)

Watching on the beeb just now but I really can't be doing with the 'story' behind the gardens, it detracts from the whole show imo.  I mean, 'a Feminine garden'....eh?
Sorry, but it spoils it a bit for me. Less balderdash and piffle and more plants say I.

Totally agree.  To me, if the garden has to be explained it's failed for me, much like modern art :-)

I've recorded all 3 of to-day's programmes so I can whizz through all the "balderdash and piffle" and the repeats, and MD's sycophantic fawning over "celebs" he's interviewing.

I do enjoy the explanation behind the charity gardens.. the one for childhood cancer was deeper than I would have noticed in a short shot of the space on broadcast.
