Well it is nearly here, and thankfully the weather should be lovely. I do myself prefer Hampton Court as more roomy of course, but I am going with my lovely hubby and daughter-in-law and her husband. Not worried that I cannot buy anything (hubby will be pleased), as I am growing all of my own plants from seed. Just going to get some ideas on colours, what's in at the moment and design. Hope everyone who likes it or watches it on the TV (taped for me as well), enjoys it as much as I intend to.

Looking forward to the programmes. I usually gain some ideas, often from the small show gardens.

When I go to Chelsea I come home witha  couple of metal peony supports, packets of seed (look for special offers in the stands between the gardens and the refreshment area) gardening gloves ditto and then, in the floral marquee I usually find seeds and lily bulbs to buy and I've also brought home an obelisk, forged metal hanging baskets and a metal lizard.............

  • Watching it earlier I had to laugh when they asked Miriam Marigold if she did any of the gardening. 'Goodness me, no!'  (or something along those lines), said with something approaching disdain at the thought of deadheading a daffie was the reply.

Erm......well, what's the point of having her on? You'd be as well asking a five year old if they liked the pretty colours.

Exactly.   Which is why there's such a lot of complaint on here about Z list celebrities and presenters who don't know their onions form their ornamental alliums!

Must admit l thought "Why the heck have her on then?" In the words of the song - "lt should have been me"! I certainly would have appreciated it.

The only show garden I'm interested in seeing at Chelsea on the t.v. is the Weston Garden by Tom Stuart-Smith, I think it's my type of garden...

Last time I went to Hampton Court I loved it, they had a rose marquee, I don't know if they still have it, but obviously my kind of place that...
I remember it was rather a long walk after parking the car in a field though..

When Professor Sprout talked about her gardens at her houses that summed Chelsea up for me.

The other thing that gets on my wick is how the "garden" creators go on and on about the meaning behind their garden even if it is big blocks of concrete with a foxglove thrown in.

I will still watch it avidly though.

Can  someone tell the BBC that in the A  to z of Chelsea. P stands for Pavilion. Not Pavillion. Only one L.  I despair.
