@Valley Gardener. Just missed your post. You sound as though you are really enjoying your stay in Dorset. Don't seem to have received a PM. If I can do it I'm sure you can.
    Hope your weather is good.

Good morning everyone,  thank you for your kind remarks re: my waffling. I will carry on, but please feel free to tell me to put a sock in it if needs be  :)
@nultyphilip224, your shopping trolley really came in handy, just the right size. It's like it was meant to be. Your garden really is beautiful,  l am inspired  :)
@Valley Gardener checked my pms and nothing there at the moment . l would love to see a photo, maybe have another go. This posting photos business doesn't always work for me either, l have never tried it on a pm.
We have a Range just down the road, l love having a mooch round it. They have been known to have some gems in the plant section (hellebores anyone ?)
@Fran IOM Unfortunately ( ;) )we need to go back to Morrisons tomorrow for MIL's shopping. I have decided to leave it in the lap of the gods and see what they have in the plant section then. I have got use of the car today, but have so much l need to do here. That's why l'm sat here with a cup of tea posting on the forum......
It was very chilly last night and no sign of Hedgehog or Mouse. Mr B flew up and perched on the window box while we were washing up the breakfast things. He was most disgusted that we had dared to have our breakfast before giving him his. I apologised profusely, of course. The robin and Mrs B also turned up and formed an orderly queue.
@Purplerain , hope you have a good day, as Fran says, go easy on the sugar for your grandson,  but get as much down you as you can !
Right, l have procrastinated long enough,  have a lovely day everyone.
I might just have one more cup of tea first.....

Just back from my walk, and had to change everything! Drowned rat doesn't do it justice. Before I left I got some fleece out for a couple of things as it is really cold. Unfortunately, I can't find my ball of green string. None of you have it do you?😀.

@Fran IOM It will be ok on the treats front as he loves fruit. I agree, the effects are dramatic with sugar, so I will be careful not to make my life a misery.

No PM from @Valley Gardener as yet. I have never sent one so can't help.

@AnniD waffle away! You do make me laugh and I hope you find another nice plant at the SM.

  • Hi Folks,..just dropping in briefly,..i will be back later as usual lol.

@Valley Gardener,..just to let you know the same method for posting a picture in the Thread is the same in a PM,..just move your cursor over the symbols above,..to the one that will read 'Attach Image',..then when the little window appears,..click on 'Choose File',..that will allow you to post an image from where ever you have that image on the computer you are using,..the usual is in 'Pictures'.

Oh a Card for you below.

You can view your card here

    1. @nultyphilip224,oh thankyou, that's so lovely,a Dorset cream tea! I hope the others are having a look.
    2. I tried the pics exactly the same way,but it's not working,I wondered if I should press"start conversation",but obviously not..... as I did that on some.I'll have another go.
    3. Now it looks like I've got a 123,how has that happened???? Ugh blessed device!!

@Valley Gardener @nultyphilip224 yes l have seen it and also replied to the pm.
Wish l had a magic teapot like that.....
  • Hi Folks,

@AnniD,..i used to collect 'Willow Pattern China',..sadly when i decided to head off to live and work in England i sold the lot,..there were some of the big carving dishes included.

Nice to know you also were inspired by the garden,..the influence was all down to my Dad working in the National Botanical Gardens and living across the road from it,..i loved going into the huge greenhouses and being surrounded by trees and plants,..the feeling is still there when all my tall plants are in bloom.

Oh i found another great use for that trolley,..my 25 Litre petrol tank for the boat fits in snugly,..it saves me carrying the tank along a long jetty.

@Purplerain ,..so you were also in the company of your Grandson,..i bet he was spoiled with all the late night shopping goodies,..lucky Grandson,..at his age i was stuffed with Syrup of Figs,..Scott's Emulsion,..not forgetting Senipods,..its a wonder i survived lol.

Pity you didn't purchase that contraption that looks like my Trolley/Basket,..i am only finding how useful it is since yesterday and i have had it since last Summer.

Congrats on your Hydrangea Vanille Frais showing its buds,..give it a treat of a small amount of fertiliser it will reward you,..keep it well watered they love water.

Sooooo you were at it again lol,..poking around with the Bark,..i am glad you got one,..they go out of stock quick enough and don't appear again until next Spring,..for many garden products.

Sorry about your walk being sort of wet,..should i say you were drowned and its pretty cold as well,..hope you made the excuse to have a Hot Toddy.

@Fran IOM,..like you we are having rain again today,..it only started just after 12 noon so i had finished the Doggy Walk,..no wandering about the garden for the remainder of the day,..there's a strong wind as well.

You asked when did i start with the present garden,..that was in 2004,..there was nothing in the garden but grass back then,..i brought many plants from my previous garden to here,..one plant is very noticeably absent and that is the big yellow blooming bush in the first picture of yesterday,..Cytisus scoparius 'Scotch Broom'.

Oh the fee for the dogs was when i was away for a full week in Spain,..they did well as after that week i was only home for a few days and off again,..i never hired them again as i think Molly the Springer was hit by a car while with them,..she either got out on the road or the children let her off the lead on a busy main road,..Molly was walking with her back legs slightly off to one side for a month.

So that's the story of your visiting cat,..interesting,..i can understand the wanting to return to its habitat it knew before,..dodgy coming and going across a busy road as they always get caught.

Lol at the thought of birds nests and chicks smelling like your 'Buddy',..it must be so ,..though i imagine the scent of young birds and what the parents feed them will change the scent.

Coming along well is the Amaryllis 'Minerva'.

Still in bloom Amaryllis 'Royal Red'

  • Wow! Another beautiful Amarylis to watch bloom @nultyphilip224
Apparently we have snow in the valley, and "our" mountain is covered! All plants are safely under fleece according to the phone call thismorning!  Extra sunflower seeds have been put out as Mr bullfinch, has now bought Mrs along!  Geraniums in porch covered, just in case!
Please let me know if any of you didn't get the pmed great grandson pic, was confused.com😕😕

Today promises to be an interesting one,my daughter has an old friend who is a "hippy "he lives in a horsebox all beautifully done up inside, and a farmer lets him stay discretely in a back field. His only transport is an old bike. She knew him whilst working for the local vet when he had the need of treatment for his dog.Hes coming for lunch,so it's going to be an insight into how he lives. I gather he works a lot through the summer, but finds winter a struggle.Hmmm!  Interesting!

    Rain here.
I hope someone has fair weather?

    Good Morning all.
@AnniD. How many plants did you manage to fit in the boot of the car when leaving Morrisons? I succumbed to email yesterday and bought three more Heucheras. I had a discount code so it would have been rude not to use it. I really must stop buying...
I can just imagine the orderly queue outside your window waiting for breakfast. Maybe Mr Hog and Mouse will tag along at the end.
@Purplerain. Hope you enjoyed your day with little grandson. It's good he likes fruit rather than sweet things. I have a ball of green string in my shed but seem to remember buying it in the pound shop. They sell gardening items less than half the price at B&Q. Exactly the same too. How far do you walk? Hope you have dried out by now.
@Valley Gardener. Won't be long now before you are on your way home. Wonder what you are bringing back with you. Hope you got my PM. OH sounds as though he has carried out your instructions to the letter and some more... Have a safe journey home. Cush will be pleased to see you too.
@nultyphilip224. No gardening yesterday. Never stopped raining until it was too late. Bright this morning but rain forecast again for this afternoon. That trolley has certainly come in handy. Maybe Foxy Molly would like to go in it when she gets tired on her walk when she is in her dotage. You have obviously done wonders in the garden since 2004. Did you draw out a plan or just go with the flow? Are you completely free of grass now?
I think those who considered themselves "dog minders" should be reported. Poor Molly must have had a hard time. I like to think my visiting cat just comes to see me to let me know she is ok! Some cats are very street wise. I saw one cat who lives nearby look left and right before crossing the road! Your Amaryillis is beautiful.

Time once again to think about the day ahead. It will be over if I don't do something. Time goes so quickly these days. Have a good day all.

Good afternoon everyone.  :). This morning the weather was dreadful, heavy rain and distinctly chilly. We made plans to get out early to go visiting parents etc. before the plumber was due at 12. Got back from the supermarket (further update below), to find a message from him saying he had to cancel until tomorrow as his wife had a hospital appointment. Good job l hadn't dug out "The Duster" and wafted it around, l would have been mightily miffed.
Also planned to dig out some plants from mum and dad's garden as they are filling in the last of the flower beds, but the weather put paid to that, so has been rescheduled to Saturday.
@Fran IOM , l exercised remarkable self restraint, just one clematis "Westerplatte"........oh, and 2 fuschias," Lena Dalton" and "Display". Although they are hardy varieties l plan to have them in the greenhouse display this year. They were only £1 each, but l didn't dare push my luck by buying any more (this time >:) )
@Purplerain, l wish l was as good as your grandson and preferred fruit to sweets ! Hope you enjoyed your day.
@nultyphilip224 it's a good job you have those beautiful amaryllis to look at, don't know about you but my garden is distinctly soggy at the moment. We really needed the rain though, so l can't complain really.
@Valley Gardener hope your shopping trip is successful. I have just been looking out at my buddha, he makes me feel calm. He sits there so serene in all weathers ! Your holiday seems to have gone by so quickly.
Right, even though it's stopped raining it's distinctly damp and chilly. Not even Mr B has put in an appearance yet, and l really must get on. Take care each.  :)
