Morning @nultyphilip224 and all "Philip's Followers".
Judging by the state of that poo, your hedgehog certainly has been eating a lot of slugs ! Mr Hedgehog turned up last night, scoffed the lot. No sign of Mouse on the camera though.
Foggy start here, OH has put out the blackbird's breakfast platter, l can hear him chuntering outside. (The blackbird that is, not the husband. He'll probably start later).
Glad the amaryllis has reached peak performance,  it really is a stunning colour.
Anyway must get on, l have a duster that needs washing.
Hope everyone has a good day  :)
  • @AnniD.........OMG Anni you do make me giggle!😁😁😁😁

@AnniD. Thanks for making me laugh at this time of day. I have also just had a lovely surprise delivery (not more plants) of a bouquet in its own vase consisting of roses, carnations, hyacinths I think, tulips and some pretty flower I don't know the name of in shades of pinks and reds. This was for Mothers' Day from my daughter, SIL and GD.
You say "I've been thinking" and I say "I would like to go to..". I think Philip must have upped the sales of Voltarol. Haven't had to use mine yet but early days. Love the photo of the hedgehog and his friend. Could be useful for @Valley Gardener to make her illustrations from in your book. Glad to hear your plumber arrived and such a nice chap. Know what you mean about dusting around when someone is calling.
@Valley Gardener.  Won't be long before you are ready for the off. Good idea for your daughter to drive halfway to meet you. Bet there will be plenty of nattering once you are in your daughter's car. We shall look forward to hearing what you brought home with you. Good idea about your new thread. It will be interesting to see what other members have done. Think I have a photo of the allotment before anything much was done to it. Was just like a jungle as no one had done any work on it for years.
@Purplerain  Hope you enjoyed Masterchef. Not my cup of tea as I don't enjoy cooking and what they produce makes me feel even less of a cook. Wouldn't mind being a taster though.
@moragb1 Re the highlighting of the name I think you need to have a space before and after as I noticed that one in a previous post, although correct, didn't highlight. Anyway no doubt you have worked it out by now. I don't envy you having a rat. I get the odd cat having a look around the shed so always make sure there isn't one there when I lock up. Many years ago I did get a rabbit laid out on the back doorstep for me. Also looked out of the kitchen window (in Scotland) and my fearless cat was sitting face to face with a Scottish Wild Cat. Just ran out, picked him up and got back inside pretty quickly. Thought my cat was quite big but the other made him look like a midget. Hope you get rid of your visitor. Will relate another story some other time.
@nultyphilip224   You are certainly full of ideas! As yet I don't have a "middle" in my allotment as it is one big mound of topsoil which I am gradually dispersing to the flowerbeds. The pathway goes right round the outsides. I am trying to think of an area where I could put a pot and try out your ideas. It's certainly food for thought and will let you know how I get on. Good job you got the safety lace for your glasses. You wouldn't want to lose them after all you have been through. Have sprayed my Echiums with Neem oil as I haven't given up on them yet. When I plant out my lupins they will definitely get a squirt. Am amazed at how much extra space there is now I am getting rid of the weeds. One particular weed seems to grow in a circle and the roots are so long but very easy to pull out. Haven't a clue what it is. Our Labrador just loves water especially on the beach but what he rolls in goodness knows as he can smell according to others as I have no sense of smell. Unfortunately the dog groomer broke her arm so he hasn't been for his wash and blow dry of late. Where is Whisper...

Must get on and make it look as though I have done some work. Could borrow Anni's duster. Hope you all have a good day. So far the weather looks promising. Yesterday spent two hours weeding in lovely sunshine but suddenly it went cloudy and a bitterly cold wind so had to give up.

  • @Fran IOM, what a lovely long post,I love reading what everyone's getting up to!
Rats, mice,Hedgehog poo,Demanding Blackbirds, dogs cats plants and now @AnniD and washing her duster!!
@nultyphilip224 the Amarylis is magnificent,no other word for it! Will you be off boating this weekend? We had a small cabin cruiser moored at Poole, when we lived in Dorset, one stormy night it slipped it's moorings, and went crashing into some of the Gin Palaces!! Fortunately we were insured, but it put us off owning a boat!

Rushed through the housework thismorning,so I can get out there!!

    Have a wonderful day all.

As promised, the snakes head fritillary, and the white hellibore. Please excuse any weeds I have missed. I have been out there for hours and am tired now. The Hellibore is in its second year and the fritillary are the only ones that appeared from 10 bulbs.

Very pretty @Purplerain, love the white hellebore. Know what you mean about feeling tired, l have come in for a lunch break - need refreshment!
  • @Purplerain they are gorgeous, the Fritillary are fascinating to look at,and love your Hellebore.
Also had to come in for a rest and lunch break,I have been filling socks with mainly Aubritia and stuffing them into the gaps in the wall!
Thank you for that tip Philip,I will make sure to keep them watered.

  • Isn't that beautiful? Have you had Bullfinches picking off the young buds? I'd like one but got no room,i wouldn't mind a Ceanothus ?spelling, but I know they can get quite big.
I had to hold things, whilst the new shed was fitted with a canopy thingy over the door,so pretty boring, and I got told off for wandering around......chuntering........not me,HIM!

  • Hi Folks,..gosh everyone is super busy this weather,..alas mine changed to rain today,..luckily i had just returned from the Foxy Molly walk when it started,..though i had to go shopping then,..i try to have her walk before i go elsewhere as then she is tired enough to settle down until i return,..still not damage done inside the house only once in the car,..and an attempt to have another go at chewing my seat belt.

@AnniD,..ah yes its easy to detect the diet of the Hedgehog when it visited me,..i have left out a bowl of Doggy Nuts which my Hog likes,..i have it just outside the Sitting Room door so i will hear the crunching.

@Valley Gardener ,..No boating as yet,..while all the work was done on other boats i still needed to do my own thing with my boat,..like checking out Compass and Depth Indicator which i have at home,..i would be lost not knowing the Depth of the water under the boat when going ashore on some of the Islands,..some have some pretty big  rocks just below the surface,..i can set a warning to go off at 1 Meter to feel safe.

Gosh having a boat slip its moorings is usually a bad outcome,..i can well understand that putting you off boats again.

Lol,..at you being told off for wandering off when the shed was being fitted,..you got bored i can imagine it all lol.

Soooo i hope the socks you used to contain the Aubretia were old socks,..not your OH's good socks otherwise dark clouds ahead lol.

@Purplerain ,..that is a beautiful image of your Quince,..plus the stunning Hellebore,..i wonder did something eat the remainder of your Fritillaria ,..come to think i should have more than nine but it doesn't look like that amount,..plus in the container i have some Summer Snowflake,..found the latter along the riverbank and rescued it,..its similar in height and the bloom has that droop like the Fritillaria so i have them together.

Mine are not in flower as yet.

Below when in bloom is the,.. Summer Snowflake 'leucojum aestivum'.

Ah yes when i get the urge to go off someplace quieter i head off in the boat,..once everything is read to go that is,..i have to have the petrol tank at home so i can fill it on the way to the boat,..otherwise its go to the boat,..collect the tank and head to the petrol pumps,..then return to the boat,..little things like that.

@Fran IOM ,..i have converted some of you over to the Voltarol,..honestly its the best stuff i have ever come across for getting rid of aches and sprains,..quickly,..only using a small amount,..another thing i use when off in the boat is Organic Tea Tree Cream,..its an Australian product,..known to be the most powerful antiseptic known to man,..used by the Indigenous People for thousands of years,..i used it in Cyprus/Lebanon/Congo/plus several other places for cuts and bites.

Gosh no sense of smell,..not sure that's a good thing or bad,..where dogs are concerned in particular,..Molly The Springer would roll in a dead fish,..one that was putrid and oh boy i could smell it yards away,..so much that i ordered her to keep behind me,..as for mud oh yes she could get covered in it stinking high,..then grin at me,..luckily there was plenty of water for her to swim and come out clean.
