Good morning @nultyphilip224 and everyone.  Love that last photo of Molly.
@Valley Gardener when you said you were " filling socks" l thought it was predictive text playing up. If your husband keeps on chuntering, use up all his socks for aubretia planting and look innocent when he wonders where all his socks have gone  >:)
Mr Hedgehog didn't turn up last night, l am sure he does this to keep me on my toes. Maybe he feels l am taking him for granted . Men, eh ? There is now a full dish of dog food going begging, maybe Foxy Molly could pop over and eat it . That'll  teach him. (Notice how l am assuming the hedgehog is male. Nothing to do with his cussedness. Honest ).
Anyway,  hope everyone has survived on one hour less sleep. Have a good day.  :)

Good evening all. I hope you all had a lovely day. The weather today was all I could ask for, but I need to learn to pace myself as I expect we all do at this time of year.

@Valley Gardener I havn't noticed any buds being eaten on the Quince, and it is flowering it's socks off, and no, you can't have them to stuff in your wall.

@nultyphilip224 you might be right about something nibbling the Fritillaria because when I was out today I found three small ones cut off at the stem. The white ones (sorry my attempts at spelling them is abysmal) are so interesting. Are they bulbs? I wish they were on sale, but I have never seen them.

I was doing an awful lot of lifting 40ltr bags of compost etc, mixing JI3 with MPC etc, but one bargain I was pleased with was the forest bark from Lidl.  The bag photo looks very pale, but the reality was lovely, well shredded dark brown bark. I am using it in the rocky front slope and intend to buy more to finish the job.

Anyway, enough from me and apologies if I have missed anyone or anything out. Take care all.

  • @AnniD,..i should have added a caption for that image of Molly lol.

Well i left out food for my Hedgehog last night,..right outside the Sitting Room door where i would hear the crunching,..heard nothing,..lots of the food was gone?,..i will give it another try again tonight,..so yours was AWOL last night as well,..could it be the weather?,..it was very cold here last night though no frost.

@Purplerain ,..great news that your weather was ideal for gardening,..but yes pace yourself,..a little and often is better otherwise you can be put off.

Oh like you i have never come across that Summer Snowflake 'Leucojum aestivum',..for sale though i daresay it might be purchased online,..in bulb form.

Ah so something is eating your Fritillaria,..a camera like @AnniD has would be great in cases like this,..thankfully i have nothing getting into my garden except the Hedgehogs,..even they can be elusive.

Holy Cow you are pushing the muscles lifting those 40 Litre bags of compost,..oh that's good news about the Forest Bark being in the colour you liked,..sometimes the picture on the bag lets you down when you see the actual contents,..get more as soon as you can before its no longer in stock.

'Whisper',..was hanging about despite being given lots of food this morning so i have her a good petting.

Good Evening everyone. Seems to have been a long day not quite knowing what the time is and which clocks need changing. It's the one time you wish you didn't have so many clocks not forgetting the cooker and the boiler. Can't complain as I got spoilt for Mother's Day.
@Valley Gardener. How does Cush behave when you go away? Does she sense that something is going on? Thanks for the reminder of Philip's idea of the socks. I have holes in the trunks of my apple trees so going to put some ivy in along with a sock. OH would never miss them. He still hasn't worn the ones he got at Christmas. I am sure you could find some more room for a new plant. Have you seen inside your shed yet? Have a safe journey tomorrow and enjoy.
@Purplerain Lovely photos of your flowers. Wonder why only one came up out of ten bulbs. Couldn't see any weeds. I had an email from T&M for 425 bulbs for £8! Who is going to plant that many and where to put them. It would take me forever. I got my one and only Fritillary from B&Q. Forgot to look at it today to see if it was ok. May be a squirt of Neem oil will help. Had a second delivery on Saturday. OH thought it was the book he had ordered but said "it's only more plants". Only indeed.
@AnniD I have had so many aches over the last few days. Wonder if Voltarol make something to put in the bath. Don't care when I know it's the gardening that does it. The weather has been lovely and after SM shop went to the allotment till 5.30 (4.30) yesterday's time and could have stayed much longer as it was so warm. Hope Mr Hog turned up. He may have a few other places he visits.
@nultyphilip224 We have a dog walker now. She is a lovely girl and the dog (Buddy) adores her. He acts like a love sick teenager when she calls for him. The cat who doesn't suffer fools gladly also has taken a fancy to her and rolls over in front of her waiting for a tickle. They never want her to leave. She takes Buddy out in all weathers and dog walking is her job. Not having a sense of smell does have its disadvantages. Can't smell the flowers and wouldn't be able to smell a gas leak amongst other things. The Clematis arrived. One doesn't look too bad but the other needs some tic. I think they wanted rid of them. There were only two when they advertised three but being free I could hardly complain. You live and learn.

Must finish now. Hope the weather is as good tomorrow. No matter how I feel the allotment always lifts my spirits.

Whisper obviously loves you. You are her person. I am having trouble with "Bengal". I call her that because she is a Bengal.

She began visiting last year when the Nepeta was flowering. The trouble is, my two Toms hate her and although I have not encouraged her, she wants into the house all the time. Today, she got in and beat up one of my boys. Argg! How can I discourage her?

I think we were posting at the same time @Fran IOM.

Good morning all, pinch and a punch and all that stuff. Spring seems to have hit the pause button this week if the forecast is anything to go by. Might explain why Mr Hedgehog hasn't turned up again.l am going to return to putting out just dry cat biscuits until he (hopefully) reappears. My local hedgehog rescue lady says they know colder weather is returning long before we do !
@nultyphilip224 l am impressed by the way that Whisper very graciously allows you to stroke her, she looks very imperious!
@Purplerain, your Bengal (great name !) sounds like my kind of woman. Get in there and show them who's boss. Seriously though, l don't know how to discourage her. I assume she's coming through the open door, not the catflap. I know there are gizmos you can get that means the flap only opens for your cat, but not being a cat owner, that is the sum total of my knowledge.
Steady on with the compost lifting ( l am a fine one to talk), it's so easy to get carried away though. If you want to get more bags l'd advise you to get back to Lidl asap, as one the stuff is gone they don't always get more in.
@Fran IOM l think Voltarol might be missing a trick in not doing a bath foam. You could suggest it and make sure you get a share of the profits. Just remember it was me who gave you the idea  B)
My OH also says "only" more plants, either that or "not more plants". You can imagine the tone, l am sure.
@Valley Gardener have a great time, make sure the car boot is filled with "only plants" when you return  :)
Apologies if l have missed anyone. Time for breakfast and my days of leaping out of bed like a Spring chicken are gone (although if l'm honest they never really began).
    Have a good day  :)

Good Morning all. @Purplerain I think three of us were posting at the same time last night. Philip was earlier than usual so maybe he was having an early night. Weather today seems somewhat dull and colder but as long as it doesn't rain I shall be happy. Remembered @AnniD that I still have an order yet to come. It goes back to January when despatch date was end of March and it's for "rare blue poppies" so that could be interesting. Hope they will be in better condition than my free clematis. Hopefully OH will be out at the time of delivery. @Valley Gardener will be ready for the off.
Will look in again later. Have a good day everyone and hope the weather is kind to you.

Edit. Door bell just went and another forgotten order. Thought it was ONLY the book OH had ordered but it was another freebie. 10 free Lily Tasman bulbs. Where to put...

@Fran IOM was your OH out at the time ? I have lost count of the number of times plants have turned up that l have forgotten ordering  l know l have some dahlia and begonia tubers arriving this week and bedding plants later this month - l think that's it. Even as l typed that, l just remembered l ordered some shrubby salvias yesterday!
Off for a cup tea now. Laters.

I have tried unsuccessfully to buy Phillips Neem oil in chemists. Even Boots chemist in Port Glasgow hasn't heard of it and was trying to sell me Ttree oil ha ha . Someone bought if from Amazon but loads of different types. Could you post the amazon link for me please?? That would be so helpful xx many thanks

@Fran IOM yes I think we were all busy on the keyboards at the same time. Glad you have been having so much fun at the allotment, but yes, today it is colder. I wonder what your meconopsis poppy plants will be like. I followed the instructions from Beechgrove and sowed some in trays with gravel and left them outside in Autumn. To date, nothing ☹️.
@AnniD unfortunately, I can't fit a cat flap as it is french doors at the back, and the porch door is blocked off by two plastic greenhouses. She was there again this morning but has strolled off for the moment. She is your kind of girl 😀.
@Valley Gardener If you get the chance to read this, have a good trip, and keep us up to date if you can.
@nultyphilip224, I thought your early post might have been because of the clocks changing, but that would be the wrong way round. I will take your advice and slow down, but I am definitely heading back to Lidls before the bark sells out. I did poke it open with my finger to check before I bought it. I didn't get stopped by security so they couldn't have seen me 😊. Have a lovely day all.
Sorry @moragb1 I missed your post. I am sure someone will help.
