  • @Cagzo,..thank you.

I like tall plants and tend to have low growing plants placed high,..like 'Hosta' below,..its about three foot off the ground and i like the way sun shines through the leaf.

I also make use of Ferns everywhere i can as they appear all over the garden,..Harts Tongue Fern and Shuttlecock Ferns,..some others as well.

Heuchera 'Palace Purple' on a raised container which also container a rose bush.

One corner of the garden has a dry wall running across it,..with a gap in the wall to enter,..in the wall Sedum and Campanula,..planted in an old sock full of soil.

The Harts Tongue Ferns appeared there as they do all over the garden,..Moss is placed on stone coated with Yogurt to begin its growth.

Image taken this week,..one can see the corner cut off,..containers of Lily and plants just coming along growing behind the wall,..bottom right 'Lemon Balm',..bottom left 'Harts Tongue Fern',..in container.

Sedum 'Dragons Blood',..this will become blood red soon.

That's fantastic! Thank you for the sock idea,I've found some little companulas in the garden,I dug them up and put them on top of the wall, but now I'll move them again to "in" the wall.Lots of dark spidery holes for them to go in! Again you've posted some lovely pics,I'm looking at Hostas in a different way now!! So far managing to keep the slugs and snails away with coffee grounds.

  • @Cagzo,..oh yes save those little Campanulas and stick them into the wall,..keep them watered until they are well established.

I never purchase plants,..i grow from cuttings or seeds,.. and last season i  took small sections of Campanulas from the back garden potted them so they were ready this week to be used in a very small garden section in front of the house,..how they look after one week below,..the intention is to fill the area with Campanula/Pink Wood Sorrel/White Sweet Alyssum,..plus a Variegated Wallflower,..so some way to go for filling in.

    Doggy Walk,..into the woods.

    Comes out here.

That’s a lovely walk, does your dog swim?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • @Lyn,..Hi Lyn,..the present little dog Foxy Molly is only three years old and with me since August 25th 2017,..she replaced Molly the Tri Coloured Springer who had to be put to sleep on August 16th 2017,..she will paddle but so far will not swim,.. then again its all so new to her,..it would be strange not having a dog who is a non swimmer,..my two previous dogs were great swimmers,..Foxy Molly was solely a House Dog,..her owner developed Asthma and the dog had to be left outdoors,..a big letdown,..so the owner couldn't bear it and re homed her,..i was lucky to get her.

What a lovely shaded woodland walk! Foxy must love it?
I will sort my little companulas when the sun is off the wall.Had to buy a parasol today!   Treated the garden to some solar lights too, each side of the steps, not the fairy type! Now need to sort the recently on the roses!!😁

  • @Cagzo,..she loves the outdoors,..i can imagine what its like for her who was an indoor dog to be introduced into the outdoors and let off the leash.

Delighted to hear your Coffee grounds are keeping the slugs at bay,..it is well proven that this works though i have never tried it,..no Coffee Grounds lol,..i do start a campaign of slug killing before Spring arrives so by early Spring there are no slugs or snails to be seen,..even now my Hosta plants are free of leaves showing nibbling.

So Parasol in use,..well needed so far this summer,..and the solar lights,..well spent money as the garden looks very nice at night with the odd light here and there.

    Doggy walk.

Everyone is thirsty with this heat.

Blackthorn bushes,..one is a pink shade.

    Taking a break here.

    Back to the garden.

    Two no Id Roses.

Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' ),..turning a whitish colour as it matures.

Rose ( Rosa 'Ice Cream' ),..a very big rose.

Rose ( Rosa 'Reine des Violettes ' ),..Fragrant.

Rose ( Rosa 'Handel' ),..Climbing Rose and Fragrant.

Greenfly turned into "recently" on my last post.........Grrrrrr predictive text!!  So far wiping them off!

Lovely pics again,I will look out for a scented rose! Mine looks as if it should be fragrant (deep red) but nada!!  I like the colour of Ice Cream! Very well named!

  • @Cagzo,..Greenfly appeared here yesterday on a rose bush i planted in front of the house,..the Tablespoon of each of the following,.. Neem Oil and Liquid Soap in a Litre of water,.. zapped them by evening.

When you purchase a rose and it claims to be scented,..it could be very faintly scented,..look for one marked highly or strongly scented,..or better still find out about a few strongly scented rose names before visiting the garden center.

One of my Voodoo Lilies bloomed today.

There were several locations in the garden where they were growing,..in the past week i looked at all the spots and found nine,..gave two away and potted the remainder,..one was potted last season,..its hard to believe there were that many,..attractive enough stem and bloom,..even the foliage which appears later has its own attraction,..seen below from last year.

    Doggy walk.

    Flag Iris.

    Towards town.

    Marina No 1.

    Marina No 2.

    Common Birds- Foot-trefoil,..'Lotus corniculatus'.

Wow,that is an unusual Lilly, very well named! It looked like another beautiful day in your part of the world,we have dull and rained overnight!

Do you have to check Foxy for ticks, just seen on tv that they can be in gardens now! Horrible things, probably best to put a repellent on arms and legs when working in the garden?!
