@Valley Gardener. That is a lovely Hellebore. Maybe a lightweight backpack would help you carry two more home. Were you able to plant it out today? Mine comes out white and then turns pink from what I can gather. I wonder if you are going to Lidl tomorrow? I was thinking of going to B&Q tomorrow to get some bark and may just have a look to see if they have other varieties....

@nultyphilip224. Love the card. Such a peaceful looking place. What a shame you had to cancel your eye appointment. Hope next week's goes without a hitch and you will have received your new card.
  • @Fran IOM and @Valley Gardener,..i was looking forward to starting the return to normal sight as its very annoying keeping my head at an angle lol,..however it was the only solution with the bank,..they don't like stopping a Direct Debit.

Looking out at the garden today with the rain falling everything looked so green,..this is the only time one can see the shape of the garden where nearly all plants are at a low height,..in a short time one will have to go out and about the paths to see everything as it will be like a maze.

There are two sections of garden like the image below,..one at each end of my shed.

    Small greenhouse.

The similar section to the above can not be viewed from this end of the garden,..it is to the right of the gate.

    The main path.

Most plants are still under chicken wire to protect the young shoots from Blackbirds looking for worms.

    Second path.

    Third path.

    2nd and 3rd path meet.

    Where all 3 paths meet.

All the containers had plants which are now planted here and there.

The smaller plants will go out in about a month.

A new Lavatera 'Baby Barnsley',..on the right,..was a cutting from my parent plant,..there are three cuttings now.

Arum Lily,..there are four here and three elsewhere in the garden,..all taken from splitting a neighbours plant.

This is going to be wonderful @nultyphilip224, and thanks for the card yesterday. I can't wait to see the progress of your garden this year.

Wow, that is impressive @nultyphilip224. Do you have any idea of how many plants you have ?

@nultyphilip224.  Phew Philip that is amazing! I thought I had a large area to deal with but that is something else. It must have taken years of work. So many plants all looking good. I can understand that it would be hard to find a space for a new plant and lovely to be able to walk around in different areas. Well done.
  • Oh my goodness, such a lot of plants! How do you remember them all? It is a lovely stroll round your garden, and I couldn't help noticing that lovely stone wall in the background, also the various rocks round the garden......a man after my own heart!
Where there's a rock plant....there should be some rocks to enhance it.

I planted my lonely little Hellebore yesterday, but I'm going to town Monday,so will see if there are any left.
Yes I have a rucksack somewhere, never thought of that,I could wedge two in it!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.

@Valley Gardener  Good luck on Monday! Don't forget your rucksack. I'm sure you could manage to fit two in. Hope no one has beaten you to it.
  • @Purplerain,..delighted you liked the card  :) like you i am looking forward to seeing the progress,..the Lupins will make a change and it will be interesting to see what colours they produce,..they mainly consisted of a wine colour plus one yellow and one red but they do cross and that's the the surprise.

@AnniD,..i had a visitor of late who spotted all the species of Lily coming up,.. about three inches from the surface,..he started counting from the seven large pots and gave up after 300,..so i carried on counting other plants and got just over 700,..i didn't count Campanula or Sedum,..there are over 30 rose bushes this year,..i tend to see what the bloom is like from the cuttings and if there isn't any new blooms i give them away.

@Fran IOM,..i can never resist taking a cutting or dividing and so i end up with more plants every year,..growing from seed is so productive and money saving,..but remember i never purchase any plants,..you are so right about looking for a space for a new plant,..very hard to find one,..what ever is there will expand so something always has to go to a new home when it gets too big or if i keep it then smaller plants have to go.

@Valley Gardener,..surprisingly i do remember them all as i do my rounds at least once a day,..because i move things around it makes it easy to remember as the move would be on my mind for a spell,..i have a micro climate here,..strong winds were blowing all day yesterday and today,..i could hear trees blowing in the wind yet there was hardly a stir in the garden,..not always like that but most times.

Oh i laughed at your comment,..going into town to see were there any plants left,..you planted your lonely Hellebore yesterday,..you might fit two in the ruksack,..i bet you will if there any left  :),..i will keep my fingers crossed for you.

    'Whisper',..watching the indoor sports today.

A splash of yellow at the end of the garden today.

All the Lily bulbs are doing well

I think i will have to thin them out at the end of this Summer.

I think we need more of Whisper on your thread @nultyphilip224. This is just in answer to @Fran IOM about when to collect Hellibore seeds. I keep GW recordings, and found one on 30/3/18 where Carol Klein explains how to breed them and also when to collect seeds. She suggests end of May or beginning of June, to be sown right away.

Hi Phillip. My goodness you have truly inspired me. I have only joined the forum a few months ago but been so busy restoring an old garden that I have not had time to explore. Hard work and takes up all my time.
Came across your thread and spent about 5 hours reading and watching your wonderful videos. I have to bow down to your knowledge & passion for plants.
I used to have a garden before and was passionate too but sadly had to leave my lovely garden as my husband and I were ill and we had to move to a flat. I now have a garden again and really got the bug back bad!!!
I have such a massive area to fill and cottage gardens is my style. I am going to try all your wee tips & tricks like the socks ha ha  Also never been keen on roses as I worry they are too difficult. There is a yellow climber in my garden but I love your Rosa Handel so going to get one and try it. Bet I get hooked.
Lots of members here have kindly given me seeds in the seed swap so fingers crossed and you have made me want to collect some myself this year and give it a go. Plants are so expensive and can't help but buy them so skint!!
Sorry to hear about your eye trouble too and hope you get it sorted soon.
Also we have the animal thing in common. I also have had loads of cats and dogs. I volunteered for CPL and Catflap and love all creatures. Need to go to bed now dreaming after all my reading.
    THANK YOU!! x
