Really great photos Phillip! I can't believe there's never anyone else around.....what bliss! There's something nice about white flowers,I planted my favourite Lilly of the Valley and just one has appeared! Will I get more next year? My grandma had them all over the place in her garden, probably why I like them so much, happy childhood memories!😀😀
Thank you,..i pick the first doggy walk around 0700 in the morning sometimes even earlier,..shops don't open here until around 1000,..except for LIDL they start at 0800,..its really very nice having an early morning walk,..even better when there isn't anyone else around.
Oh your Lily of the Valley should spread by next year though its not too late to see more blooms as they still bloom up to June,..oh watch out with the pets as its a highly poisonous plant,..still you have fond childhood memories of your Grandma and seeing them all over her garden,..oh they are the National Flower Of Finland.
As far as cuttings go i always got good results,..except for cuttings from Rosa ( Rose 'Karresia' ),..i treated the cuttings as i do with all rose bushes yet the 'Karresia' bested me,..until this year,..i have three cuttings that took since last season and all are in bloom,..thanks to a friend in Ohio USA who suggested i take the cutting,..dip it as usual in Rooting Powder or Gel,..then stick the cutting in a potato and plant it,..yep it worked in all three cuttings.
The Parent Rose.
The two cuttings.
A No Id Climbing Rose,..could be Don Juan?,..in bloom today.
The Chilean Lantern Tree has reached 6Ft with lots of lanterns.
@Fire,..lol i didn't spot them when taking the picture,..as soon as the image appeared here,.. i was muttering flies,..i did spray today as when these wee whitish flies appear its also time for the greenfly to put in an appearance,..now those i hate
Growing under the Fuchsia Tree,..under the chicken wire,..Orchids.
Calm warm day.
Flag Iris.
There are about three dozen rose bushes in the garden,..many from cuttings where the parent plant was not tagged,..some from seed though never given a name,..two nameless below.
Great tip for the rose cuttings Philip, and I love your Chinese Lantern. Your garden is so far ahead compared to mine. Are you in a microclimate?
@Purplerain,..ah yes that Lantern Tree is eye catching,..it was a cutting from the garden next door,..the parent plant is long gone as when the neighbor died the next owner cleared out everything,..i had a feeling that would happen and so collected many cuttings before the happening.
I was amazed about the rose cutting advise,..still i was desperate to have a cutting take root for that particular rose and tried the advise given,..i am still learning after decades of gardening,..more than seven decades,..always something new lol.
My garden is a microclimate,..back of the house there is a 7Ft high wall and behind that an 18Ft high wall,..the 7Ft goes around both sides and the back of my house and the two neighbors houses,..in front of the house,..standing at my front door looking forward there is that barrier of shrubs,..temperatures can reach the 100's in July and August,..this winter was the first fall of snow to remain on the ground since 2010.

I always have liked Crocosmia and those tangerine blooms but even without the blooms the foliage changes colour as the sun shines through.
My Hibiscus 'Woodbridge',..looking very healthy despite the bad winter.
Temperature in the garden yesterday 34C-92F and today it was 37C-98F,..little dogs don't move much on hot days.
