Hi Philip and all. Many thanks for the information regarding planting out my hellebore. I shall bear it all in mind. I could only blame myself if things go wrong as it is so healthy. You must be having much better weather than we are having here as I have been unable to do any gardening since last Thursday and Friday. I get very frustrated not being able to get on with things but the forecast is better later this week. Yet more beautiful photos. Maybe some time soon I shall see some results. Must admit that computers can be addictive but good to spend time away from them although I always like to catch up on the forum. The time you post on the forum would suggest you don't have early nights? Here's hoping we all get some good gardening weather soon.
@Fran IOM,..i have every confidence your plant will do well for you,..there is a lot to be said about Hellebore Plants and far more than i know,..so many different species and Hybrids,..seeds can be collected after the bloom but must be sown fresh,..as their seeds go off rapidly in storage,..so one would be sowing around or after May/June,..also if pot bound for very long the roots need to be loosened up by making home a bigger pot.
Ah yes our weather was excellent for gardening up to yesterday and today,..rain again all day,..despite being house bound i restricted myself to only a little computer usage as it bothers my eyes,..i will be having a check for glasses this week.
Well spotted on my late night activity,..i only get about 5 hours sleep so if i go to bed at midnight i would wake around 0500 in the morning,..with nothing to do,..nothing worth while seeing on TV at that hour,..my best bet is after 0200 as when i wake around 0700 i can take Foxy Molly for a walk,..i am used to this as it started when i was about 10 years old.
That makes sense @nultyphilip224. If I only slept for 5 hours, I would be a jibbering wreck and have to go to the doctors lol. I have always been a good sleeper fortunately.
The weather here is blustery and wet and I am going on my walk in a couple of hours, so I hope it calms down by then. Not much to report on the garden, but like Fran I am itching to get out.
Good advice about the Hellibore seeds. I will do that this year, but just for fun as I have heard they don't come true. Good luck at the opticians.
@Purplerain,..you are blessed being a good sleeper,..i must admit i fizzle out after about four weeks of a five hour sleep each night as it means i have missed out on the equivalent of 24 hours sleep every eight days.
My Pulmonaria officinalis is almost in full bloom today.
No more Fuchsia Tree,..i will miss it,.. as will the visiting Blackbird family as they loved to eat the blooms,..it did take up a lot of space,..i have 2 Arum Lily and a Hydrangea planted in this space now.
After finishing in the garden today i realised i needed to move the huge 'Clivia' situated in my sitting room,..discovered it would fit behind the TV,..fingers crossed i don't spill water when watering the plant.
Moved from here.
To here.
Very pleased with the progress made today as the garden is now looking tidy with lots of plants moved into bigger pots or new locations.
Like the way your dog has "photo bombed" the last picture l have bought a double red hellebore and plan to pot it up in the next few days, hopefully it will turn out as well as yours.
@AnniD,..Well done with your new purchase,..keep a record of its name as its always a devil afterwards trying to identify it from a huge amount of Google images,..is yours by chance Hellebore 'Double Ellen Red' ?.
Lol about the dog bombing my picture,..it was harder than one could imagine as i had a patch over one eye,..viewing and typing is hell enough but taking another picture was not on the agenda.
A new Hellebore for me given to me by a friend in Gardenersworld,..its now in bloom and i think its name is Hellebore 'Pink Lady'.
I took a cutting of my Hibiscus 'Woodbridge',..last Summer and am very pleased to see wee buds appearing,..it was in the greenhouse since back then.
Added some fresh compost to the surface around my Lupine divisions,..all doing very well as they were outdoors over Autumn and Winter,..out of 12 divisions from 2 plants and i only lost one,..there are 10 in this spot.
Hi Philip, it's not that variety , l have put the label in the new pot with it, but l can't remember the name off the top of my head (it's been a long day! ). I have my eye on one called "Anna's Red", but that "Pink Lady" is very pretty.
@AnniD,..ah i was guessing lol,..good idea to keep the label in the pot i also keep a sort of diary on all the plants i have,..''Anna's Red'' will look great for you,..watch out for its seeds after blooms have finished,..sow them immediately.
Yes i am very pleased with ''Pink Lady'',..the lady who sent it to me will be looking in here,..so thank you again for such a nice Hellebore.
Not so good news is i had my eye test today,..as i suspected all is not well,..one eye is viewing higher than the other,..which gives me double vision,..not too bad when i use a patch over one eye,..so tomorrow its off to a Specialist,..fingers crossed as i stopped driving three days ago,..my own choice.
