There's so much tidying up that needs to be done out there but it's such a dull day, so it'll have to wait a bit!
  • I did a bit of tidying up too, pruned a shrub and picked up more twigs. We did a rough measuring in the field.

Been to B&Q to buy some gravel for garden and allotment

Did pop up to Allotment just to have a look , will harvest , leeks , parsnips , jusureslm articokes , sprouts and red cabbage at the weekend for Christmas
  • @GWRS I will be doing the same, Christmas harvest at the weekend just to be sure we have everything.

I finished planting bulbs.. Yay.. I did it by digging a trench between two rows of asparagus, chucking them in , then mulching over the top with a couple of tubtrugs full of compost. They will either grow or they won't .
  • Yes volunteer day at Capel Manor moved an Acer , took some time as I wanted to preserve as many of the fine roots intact as possible. Barrowed some topsoil & mulch to finish the job.

Allotment Boy , just goggled Capel Manor , looks an interesting place
  • @GWRS Yes it is primarily a college for land based studies,  they have many garden layouts as demonstration gardens, several of them are past Chelsea medal winning gardens that have been moved there after the shows. The gardens are open to the paying public. I finished the RHS diploma in horticulture there nearly 3 years ago now, I now do about 5 hrs a week as a volunteer most weeks of the year, helping the garden maintenance team.

Allotment Boy , sounds very worthwhile and useful as you must pick up good information and advice
    Impressed you did RHS Diploma
  • I decided that as for years I had concentrated on edibles it was about time I learned a bit more about general horticulture. I enjoyed stirring up the old grey cells more than I thought. It was two of my classmates on the course that gave me the Allotment Boy moniker :D
