  • I took a chance with the calmer weather this morning to plant out two harebells and 2 dianthus plants that I had grown from seed, all had roots coming through the bottom of the 3" pots.  They are easy to grow from seed, and I really felt the need to put them in the gaps in the rose bed. OH scattered 7 bags of wood chip over part of the large flower bed.

Got into garden today , main job done , bubble rapped g/h
Then a bit more of tidying up , including raking up leave , not that many so put in garden bin , pleased with a couple of hours outside , could have done more but dark buy 4 o’clock
Hoping to get to allotment on Sunday
  • It was nice to be outside today with something fun to do. It rained sporadically which I don't think was forecast but ok all the same.

I had two deliveries of roses this week, mostly climbers, and was able to get them planted out. Wasn't too difficult as I'd already prepped the areas, just had to move a couple of things as I hadn't calculated the required space properly in one of the beds.
    Wearside, England.
  • I've  taken the small trees (Witch Hazel  and Sumac)out of their half barrel homes and refurbished  the soil after adding  more old compost  bags at bottom and edges to retain moisture . The Sumac had rooted through the bottom and  had gone down the edge of the manhole cover the half barrel stood on so that's had to be resited. I've added some wallflower and tulips for a spring display.
  • OH has decided to reseed the lawn where we step off the gravel.  The lawn has worn to bare soil - he is thinking of laying some redundant old patio slabs that were cluttering up the dump - along with lots of other odds and sods to make steps. This could be a big job so we may have to call on extra help.

Gurnsey D , path sounds a good idea , I put a few very small slabs in one of the flower beds so I can cut the hedge , sounds like your path could be a big job

@alicebenson05 Were you up very early or are you referring to yesterday?? Envy you being able to do some gardening as our weather won't permit it. You would have to be mad to venture out  :/ Welcome to the forum by the way. Hope you enjoy  :)
