  • Planted 2 bargain bin crocosmia, Emily McKenzie and Carmine Brill, they were £4 each so not a mega bargain but they were full 3 litre pots.

Finally got round to ordering bare root roses, last night and this morning. Two I wanted were already out of stock, so thought I'd better get on with it before the rest sold out. Found reasonably different 'substitutes' that I think will suffice.  :)

  • Wanting some miniature tulip or narcissus bulbs my OH went to the GC today only to be confronted with Christmas, I know I have left it late to plant them, but perhaps we will have better luck at the next GC we visit during the week.
So I started planting cyclamen today - 4 in two terracotta troughs.  Even with the cold winter we had there are plenty here flowering for the second year running. -

After heavy rain last night, garden absolutely covered in leaves so did my best to sweep/drag them off the paths - a bit difficult when they were so wet. The ones on the lawn will have to be left until it dries out a bit. Re-potted some indoor plants and stapled some red poppies to the front gatepost ready for tomorrow.

@Victoria Sponge it's best to order bare root roses from July, then they won't be sold out. I ordered mine in September and found some of them sold out. But i had more than enough choices. :)

It was brilliantly sunny here for our local Remembrance Parade so I hope you had dry weather too, Hampshire Hog. Very emotional to see so many people turn out to march but I do wish I had thought of wearing my grandfather's medals.

  • @Logan yes you are right, I will try to remember in future years  :)

Not sure why it never occurred to me to order earlier, especially as I order spring bulbs from May onwards...just didn't think :/

Hope your new roses do well  :)
