It was quite mild and dry here today but all the leaves (especially the small birch ones) are still far too wet to pick up, so I'm afraid the only "gardening" I've done is to walk round and photograph all the plants still in bloom - lots! I've posted some of them on a separate thread. Does that count?
Friday sunny and warm, (got all the washing out and dried) the dahlias had finnally blackened and collapsed, mulched them with home made compost, and put wicker hanging baskets over the top, planted tulips in shallow terracota pots. Didnt get everything done, that has been the first dry day for I dont know how long.
Feeling virtuous, and the tracter started! End bed finished and long border and end bed are now covered with black very well rotted manure. Took several trailer loads. Back is still OK - so far Was getting dark by the time I finished. I will leave the growth on the middle bed and the oval bed to protect the plants for winter. The soil there isn't too bad and manure is running out. Next bed to clear up is the greengage tree bed, other side of house so it will be old manure from the winter field shelter. Not much of that left as a lot went on the veg garden last year.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Nothing for last few days due to bad weather. But allotment this morning, need to spread some more manure and have a three roses (Cardinal Hume) to plant that arrived on Friday and four (Rhapsody in Blue) that I dug /potted up and moved from home a few weeks ago.

Was going to as soon as I'd finished my coffee this morning but then it started drizzling, so indulged in some horticultural therapy (and mincepies!) at our local Hilliers. They were offering buy one Heuchera for £9.99, get one free, so bought some peachy coloured ones and a small pot of mixed ivy. I do need to clear more leaves off the borders as bulbs are coming up but they're still so wet and it's a horrid job.
Lovely day today, overcast but mild and no wind. Good day for patrolling the garden and making plans.
Scraped the nasty mess under the sun heart feeders, chucked it under the wildlife hedge as some little worms were up to something in it. Covered it in soil conditioner to suppress the stench.
Did loads of bird feeder admin, washed 5 feeders and have another 2 to do, with it raining all the time they need changing more often.
Planned some awkward areas, edge of the triangle bed and edge of the pond which seems to just be couch grass and a shady-ground cover with white flowers whose name escapes me for the minute. *Sweet woodruff, I think*
Bagged up some topsoil from the front garden to take to the allotment to build up the soil level.
Noticed a fancy deschampsia that I thought was dead (and had pulled up and chucked under aforementioned bin hedge) had come back to life so I planted it on the sunny pondside.
Came back in as I felt like I was annoying the little birds and looked at some sale bulbs online. Haven't ordered any yet but want some camassia, tulips and crocus.
Had a good day at the allotment, misty rain later on.
Dug over and incorporated compost into two of the scented garden boarders planted some of the roses and mulched them.
Dug over and manured more of the veg area.
Weather permitting next week will try and get the trellis wind break put up for the poly tunnel also have paths to lay, paving for the scented garden area and the new shed base.
