One of our plot holder is going to make a shelter out of pallets, thought i'd see how he gets on and another just took the side out of a shed and put a bench in.
The shelter will be a task for next winter now and I'll spend te summer collecting pallets.
Another couple of hours at plot this afternoon , weeded around gosberry bushes and put some manure down and also manured , the bed I cleared yesterday Took a couple of pictures one from top , showing small beds and one from Middle showing bigger bed covered in weed membrane
That's a fair size plot you have GWRS and it's looking ready to go. Those pallet braces are just made for raised beds, aren't they fabulous, I've got four and wish I had more. Is the GH on your plot too...
It's forecast mild weather here for the next few days so I might take a tray of peas down to the plot to harden off in the GH.
What a good idea, I shot myself in the foot with another plot holder who was giving away a poly tunnel frame as I've two GH's and didn't want it but with hindsight could have used it as a fruit cage. It's running battle who gets my currant, birds tend to get a lot
Zoomer your plot is looking fab liking the daffs good lot of planting areas, the logs around the paths, what area are you thinking for artichokes? will start digging them up for you soon will look at how many are in a metre when dig up and also look about spacing on internet - they are about 10 -15cms deep - do you have a bird house?
Went to the plot today lots more bramble pruning off plot found some more rubbish getting there letting more light into plot and flower bed, I noticed little weed seedlings growing on plot today I never got around to covering soil up, fed birds we scared them off a bit being in the brambles - few plot holders on site today being sunny
GWRS you got good growing room on your plots - very neat nice fruit cage seating area sound nice, pallet collars look great thinking of buying one for the garden from B&Q they have so many great covers for them gh's - netting, plastic and trellis frames
Think I will get a new plastic walk in gh from B&Q this year and use old frame at plot with netting
Another day at plot Pleased with lots of little jobs done All pruning finished , some more to burn Broccoli bed tidied up , left 4 plants in that are still ok
Cabbage seeds in propagator at home have grown to much , have had to take lid off
Never been this far far in front , keep wondering that the weather could turn nasty ❄️ Gardengirl good idea for frame
Lots more bramble pruning today not far off now getting it finished and back to the plot lots to do on there, my PSB plants is starting to grow purple shoots very small plants though
Bought myself some skelly trays with bio pots from ideal world to put in peat pots to grow on plants they look good
Gg. It all helps using skelly trays and bio pots. I have a lot of plastic pots but also use toilet rolls, home made paper pots and bio pots.
The area for the artichokes is about 4ft by 5ft. Not very big, I'm only going to try them this year. When you are ready, PM me, there's no hurry we can discuss P&P then.
GWRS. I've never been this far ahead either. Put up more pea and bean supports today. Planted out some shallots and potted up chillies and aubergines.
