  • Went to plot as well and had a bonfire of some brambles took rest to tip, lots more pruning done cleared a good area around a big tree that the birds like to sit on to fly across onto my plot for feeder, gave the birds another suet block
Going to change site of a bird house at home see if is better for the birds
Pictures would be good like them
GWRS - me too think my back was a bit from bending in the brambles better now with heat, but hands still sore

Sound's like everyone has got the garden bug again, it's just great how a little dry weather sunshine and getting your hands dirty makes us feel so good.

Unfortunately that thing called S*d's law has caught me out with the wife taking a turn for the worst so I have been stuck indoors with doctors and nurses attending each day but were optimistic that she is on the mend again but will take some, time so allotment has to go on hold  :/

On the bright side all the seeds I have sown at home have germinated now, and I can sow a few Tom's and cucumber once the seed arrives today or tomorrow.

I've sown toms and a few other seeds at home but don't have a huge amount of room for seedlings at home.

Did you grow any winter veg in your poly tunnel, Hampshire_Hog.
  • Not this year Zoomer as just getting it set up but the idea is to have it in production all year round from now on.

I did get just half an hour there this morning while the carers were in looking after the wife, just time to pick up some seed trays, compost etc and have a quick look / check around.

The new seed order arrived this morning so will get on and sow a few tomato and cucumber's I also have some brewers hops I'm going to try and grow from seed if it works I will use them to cover the 6' wire fence at the back of my plot, and maybe start brewing my own beer 🥴🍺🍺

H_hog. I grew some winter veg in the GH this winter and really get the benefits of having a poly tunnel for a continual harvest.

I'm looking to grow more winter veg on the plot this year.
    happy growing

Went to the plot today, the warm weather had brought out quite a few plot holders.

A tray of broad beans have germinated in the GH, a good sign I can soon start sowing some early hardy varieties of veg. Planted out some broad beans and sweet pea which had been sown in the autumn and had been left outside for  week or so.

Quite a productive day, potted up some toms and peas germinated at home.
  • I took the wife to the allotment this morning her first venture out since she was ill didn't spend a long time just a look around and check out the seeds happy to say the broad beans and peas have all started to germinate.

T sat on the small patio area in her chair and had the bl***y cheek to say if I needed any advice just ask ! that's the last time I take her out to play
