Hello , bought some seed tapes from Lidl , carrot , parsley , radish , lettuce 🥬 today
    Two packets for £2-00
So far always get 100% germination with them
  • Hello All
Went to the allotment did a bit more pruning of brambles spotted the horse in field though the fence and a few pied wagtail birds, had to re-cover the shed as storm Erik took cover right off, has damaged it a bit - will be nice when the shed gets a proper roof done
Had to stop what doing as site rep came over - OK here's the story I emailed council lady about the two plots next to car park trying to find out size and where the car park goes to and some other bits to when she is coming next - she passed email to one of the site reps.....   not so good he came over shouting a bit and moaning it is nothing to do with me (sure he does not like me) those plots -  I tried to say some bits but kept being cut off by him - peed me off - he did roughly show me where they can go to -  he  told one plot holder she has small bit more plot than she thought - that was why I did it as well

GWRS that was good getting seeds ready
Had a look in a 2 new places next to each other Pound stretcher - lots of fruit trees £4.99 each and area for seeds, compost plants - nice fake plant trees, gloves got them ended up being two left hand lucky noticed in car park so swapped for left and right hand gloves - would go back there to look around more Aldi - nothing in there garden wise yet

Gg. Sounds like the site rep could have handled your enquiry more diplomatically.

I like a bargain. Grow Your Own mag this month has 10 free packets of seeds with it, although the mag is £5.99 I thought it a good buy.

Seed tapes sound good. Have you started sowing yet GWRS.

I'd like to grow more winter veg but some vegs take such a long time to grow and take up valuable growing space during the summer when you can get a better return from quicker growing vegs.

I'm looking to add parsnips, celery and cabbage to this years winter veg with the usual brussels, chard, kale and leeks. Cauli looks, a to hard to do veg and it is as cheap as chips in the shops. Cabbage though, will take up lots of room and is it worth it.....

O/H have sown some cabbage 🥬 seeds , for the first time , usually buy plants 🌱 from g/c . The reason is trying to grow cabbage for Village show in July
  • Went looked around a re-done gym yesterday looks ok they have not finished all areas but most - so had an open day and I got some balloons for me for today as giving away at end which was nice
Zoomer totally agree, I try and avoid that site rep he is not so nice as the other one - as he is bossy and tries taking over,  I got that mag too some good seeds in there, winter veg is good just does take up space
GWRS that good to enter village show
Storm damaged fence in garden and apple tree as a new fence pannel fell on it so will have to prune the apple tree

  • Went to plot today lots more pruning of brambles around a tree in bit off plot - found lots of little trees council may planted them sometime - I know there was one tree as the birds use it, lots of buds on my plum tree and crocus flowering

  • Hello again, I went to my plot this weekend and cleared it up. Most of the weeds came away with a rake. i felt very lucky!

Thanks you for your suggestions, they were really helpful. I have pruned the apple tree and I will put the raspberries in separate beds so I know what is what. I've placed an order for a compost bin (discounted via my local council) and I've ordered 3 raised beds and compost to fill them from B and Q this week. Can't wait to go back to the plot this weekend!

    Thanks everyone :)
  • Oh and I'll get some more pictures at the weekend too and post them here. Thanks everyone for your support!

I will try to train the tree too. I took it some "juice" from my wormery this weekend in a jam jar and gave it a little drink before I pruned it. I thought that was a nice way to introduce myself :)
