Oooh Pat! Brown snakes are the ones you really don't want around your home aren't they?
The MA was brilliant, made even better by being awarded it by Bill Oddie ... my previous degree had been awarded by a rather inebriate uncelebrated pal of the college principal ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Yes, I can imagine how it felt getting Bill to present it. I can’t even remember who gave my BA to me.
Re. The Brown Snake. There was a bloke in Tamworth a couple of days ago who tried to rescue his little dog who was too close to one, he got bitten on the finger and didn’t survive.
They say they can kill with one kick Pat, they look so colourful but if you look carefully they have a spur that has a venom inside. One kick and you are in trouble.
only saw a brown snake once, squashed on the road!
Dove, you not got the snow yet?
i actually got some sleep last night so feel a lot better
quiet on here this morning

Ha ha, punkdoc - every time we listen to The Pogues (which is quite often) we comment in awe that Shane McGowan is still alive. HOW? I've concluded that he must actually be just pickled. Only saw them once, at a GLC party. Ended up in the moshpit, which was quite terrifying... But happy birthday Shane, you poet.
Had a tree surgeon round this morning to look at my massive leylandii (4 of them), prunus and elder. Still can't decide what to do.
More revision today - it's cold but sunny and rather nice here so that will be hard. Also other unwanted admin stuff (all of which costs money, booo) and trying to sort out why our shower has suddenly stopped draining.

LG - I don't know how convenient the Slademore Contemporary, Mayfair is for you to visit but there is a photographic exhibition being staged there until the 28th January which may interest you..

It is a 30 acre site, developed over a 30 year period. The garden is quite near to me, open only one day a year and a friend who visited it said it was marvellous.

Not good Pat ,,, so glad you spotted that one.
Do they have any predators to help control them in your area?

No predictors that I’ve ever hear off.
Lilyp, I’ve never encountered a cassowary. Are they aggressive?

Hi all.
Snowing hard, blowing a gale and bitterly cold, no excuse for not studying today then.
Perhaps I would rather have our weather than your Brown snake, Pat.
Shane McGowan is 60, so what you say, well if you had regularly seen the Pogues in the 1980's, you would have been surprised if he had reached 30.
Still think Fairytale of New York is my favourite Christmas song.
I knew you were clever Dove, but that is amazing.

Chicky, are you out there? Hope you're OK.
