    Maybe just quite impoverished people whose children enjoy Nutella and who saw it as a way to give their family a treat ........ it's not a reason to riot but I wouldn't say stupid ............. more like sad maybe

    @Dove,

    Being stupid is not related to being poor. Some rich people are stupid too. Of course if you think the word "stupid" should be banned from this forum,...

    Papi-Jo,,,,,,,are you implying that the people going to take advantage of a worth while discount on a product were stupid not to have anticipated the demand or were simply "stupid people"?

    Regarding the Nuttella riots, I read on the BBC that it was being sold at a 70% discount image

    Maybe some of the folk were canny small business owners hoping to scoop up a bargain lot of stock at cheaper than wholesale prices to sell on at a profit.

    Kerching ???. That would make them very clever image

    It happens over here with some of the crazy offers the big supermarkets do.

    apologies in advance, if my grammar and spelling isn't up to scratch image

    Don't think I've ever eaten Nutella ... the very thought puts my teeth on edge image

    We try to avoid Palm oil here too.

    See original post

     Never tasted the stuff ....sounds like gunge to me...interestingly enough .....my daughter told me about the growing popularity of the low cost supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl some years ago as I usually take back ~30 Kg of foodstuffs with me when I visit. I decided to check out these cheaper places....I could not believe  the ingredients ....like simple shortbread biscuits ....palm oil everywhere.....no such thing as a free lunch!

    Nutella is a spreadable version of the lovely choc/hazelnut praline you get in good chocolates.  In its proper form it can be delish but Nutella, unfortunately, has long since been adulterated by palm oil and other nasties.  Half od Possum's classmates in primary school had Nutella butties for lunch so I expect a bargain offer was definitely going to be pounced on..

    Have had to abandon the tailored jacket.  Far too long and slow and complicated to get done before I leave so i'll finish it later and post it.  Normally takes me 1.5 to 2 days to make a normal jacket but all the extra interfacing, padding, hand-stitching and blocking make this very slow work.  Not convinced she'll appreciate it or that the finished look is going to be that much different either.   We'll see.

    Off to cook roast tandoori chuck now while I pack.   Best check the forecast too.

    Bon appetit everyone and enjoy your evening.

    On the sofa stuffed with a squid and prawn stirfry ... very yummy ........ OH is washing up image  I've also polished off the second half of the second half of a bottle of this http://www.waitrosecellar.com/all-wines/popular-regions/waitrose-crisp-and-floral-italian-white .  I must say it slips down a treat ... an absolute bargain price for a very drinkable wine.  Recommended image
