    See original post

There's one here too - sitting on a fence post bellowing that it's spring. I had a word, told him it's still January and far too soon for that type of caper, but he's still singing. Very mild here. Everywhere is so wet though, no chance of getting any gardening done yet. When we went out with the dogs on Sunday we thought we'd walk on the bridleways because the fields are so wet and muddy. Not sure it really helped much

    Morning all.

Same old, same old here. Another day by the pool and walking along the beach for us.

    Morning all.

    How very dull, Hosta!

Looks more like a river than a bridleway.

Went to the cinema last night to see The Darkest Hour, about Churchill at the beginning of the War. It was very good, couldn't believe 2 hours had gone by when it ended. Then  we had dinner in Weatherspoons, nice and really good value.

Obelixx said "I've been sewing - no surprise.  Log cabin glasses case finished.  Pyjamas finished.  Trousers just need the inside leg seam sewing and then hems and finishing of the waistband.  Jacket next."

Well done, I don't think trousers and jackets are easy, especially getting them to fit properly with no tucks in jacket arms and sitting straight on the shoulders.

That "stream" looks interesting for walkies RG.   It is mild again here and not windy or raining for the moment.  Masons have just been to discuss our storm damage and will come and fix it all on Friday.  Wonderful.

Trousers now finished except for hand hemming the legs and waistband.  Being good and not zapping it with the machine.  Doing a handbag now - big enough to take her small PC and pockets for mobile phone etc.

Need to raid the fabric shop for elastic, a zip and some more interfacing for the tailored jacket which I shall cut out this pm.   Busy - I find it all goes together quite well with Vogue or Butterick patterns but don't like Burda.  Lousy instructions and, over here, I have to draw in seam allowances before I cut.   I get my patterns half price thru a subscription to Sew Direct.

Pat - I too have a mountain of fabric but tend to schlepp about in the same old stuff.  However, I do need to make some new trousers for me now and some new cotton summer frocks and tops for this year.

I woke up too late for early bird song Dove and they are quiet now but were very noisy yesterday when we had sunny spells.

Hosta - I know there are certain kinds of excitement you don't need but is it not a tad boring just lazing by the pool all day?   How's the tan coming along?  Turning regularly?

Pdoc - our pond has finally risen high enough to flood the shelf where I planted the twisted willow.  Hope it's happy.

I hope everyone is well, or at least recovering from lurgies, and that the weather is kinder today..

Oh!  The big golden cyprus next to the robin's holly tree is being felled ... the top half has just toppled onto the driveway opposite .... hope they're not going to fell the holly as well image  ... I can understand the cypress needing to go tho', it takes up half their garden.

Well, we pulled into Kirkenes, late because of the rough passage. minus 20c.  The sea was frozen in part of the harbour. Strangely it didn't seem that cold because there was no wind. Up to the Ice Hotel, very pretty, view the reindeer then back to the boat. The guide got excited at 10 am as the sun just poked its head above the horizon. It was the first time he has seen it for two months.  Pitch dark by 2 pm. on the return journey now, back to the rough seas, but trying to rest ready for snowmobiling tonight.

Sounds very chilly, Fidget, and dark. But interesting, an experience. Hosta and you are at two extremes!

    I fancy a walk, OH doesn't. It's stopped raining, but it's a bit windy.
