I seem to be the only one awake in the house this morning... so am posting while the going is good...
Dove, that's really sad about the farm shop. As others have said, hope your OH finds a job to his liking, soon; and maybe can use the "down time" for something more creative.
Lizzie, glad your journey was OK and you're getting through the list of things to be done whilst you're in Norfolk. You must sometimes feel a bit of a nomad! Hope you find the violas.
Must get going and finish some butternut squash soup (more stuff to be shoehorned into the freezer!) before breakfast.
Hope you all have a good Saturday!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Thanks Joyce. It was a bit painful in the night, but only like you've bumped yourself. But I have chronic tendonitis in the other shoulder so hard to know which side to lie on!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Joyce, fingers crossed here, although her mother told Hubby that she is due to come home on Sunday night, so we might get a call. We’ll have to put her off. Hubby has an early appt with the endodontist on Monday in Canberra so we’ll be up early. Don’t want a late night before it.
ive had a full day in my art room for a change - only colouring, not painting but I find it relaxing. I’m colouring a page to give to a friend for her birthday in Feb. When it’s finished I might put it on the craft site.
A Saturday morning lay-in!!! OH has just gone down to make coffee and put some good music on ... he tells me he's in charge of supper ...
Glad you've arrived ok BL ... I got violas from Notcutts and they're performing well but i don't know if they still have any ... I don't have an excuse to just pop in any more but if you're coming up the Newmarket Road it might be worth just popping in there .
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all, I have managed to get my head off the pillow this morning. This flu bug Is a nasty one. Both oh and I been banjaxed and that was with the jab! The whole village is down with it.
Dove very sorry to read about the farm shop, is there no chance the staff could buy it? Is sounded like a really good shop.
Liro my freezer was full over Christmas now seems I have only soup!
Busy I love violas and treasure the wee clump I have. They have never spread tho, same as they were 12 years ago. Hope your arm ok
Joyce dull cold and damp here today
Punk, you have some really nice things to look forward to. Joyce, Fairy and I could join you at Gleneagles for a pre dinner cocktails. Really, it would be no trouble!

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Good morning. I've been lying in bed pretending to doze but actually reading my January Garden and being "loved" by Cosmos who can't decide between flying pirouettes to entertain me or snuggling. Lovely line from Helen Dillon who has moved to a new, smaller garden after a lifetime in her famous one and has left behind all the statues because a friend had said "Statues are just garden gnomes for the upper classes'. Always hated those fake Grecian goddesses and so on. Must take a pic of the garden round the corner for you.
It's fine and dry today so I've asked OH to come out to play - digging big holes for me to plant 3 trees and maybe the gunnera which I shall have to cut out of its pot. Might even get some weeding done and bung in a few late bulbs I still have lying around.
We're off out to a concert this evening - piano and violin - then dinner with a chap from the golf club whose wife can't join us as she'll be in Nantes babysitting.
Our Leclerc's have a good range of veg Busy tho poor on Chinese greens, kale and cavolo nero. They have lots of locally grown stuff and the usual Spanish offerings but also exotics in the two nearer the coast. How big is this curtain to be? We had draught excluding curtains for doors in Belgium but they're just folded on a shelf here, waiting for me to decide where and if we can use them here.
Hope you get your peaceful, early night tomorrow Pat. Liri - you'll be glad of a rest when you get home!
Greetings to all those yet to pop in.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Morning all. I have woken (and went to bed) in a foul mood and I don't know why - there is absolutely no reason for it but I'm having trouble shaking it off. It's dry, if dull, today - I'll get out in the garden and hope to work it off.
Really sorry to hear about the shop and OH's job, Dove. Did it come as a complete surprise? How long had he been there? I hope he can find something else - and that the extra painting time for now is productive!
Chicky I hope you've had an OK week and that the house is feeling less empty and more normal. If anyone's in touch with Fairy, say hi. And LP I'm sorry to hear that it did turn out to be flu for you too - hope the recovery continues speedily.
Have a good time in Norfolk, BL.
Right, I'm off to get my grumpy self moving. See you later.

Hi BusyL. I’ve been in another room al day so only now saw you post. It sounds as though you’ve been busy since you got back to England.
Weve had 41 mm rain since 8 th Jan, so quite pleased. It doesn’t take much for the grass to respond.
Morning, anyone out there!

Liri - family will be very appreciative of all your cooking when you return home........to an empty freezer there?
Busy - hope you don't have a painful arm today.
Pat - wishing you a visitor free evening!
Morning all.
