Nice to hear of a happy ending. Brave lorry driver. Diss is quite near our Norfolk cottage. Also near the beautiful Bressingham Gardens.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Thanks everyone for kind concerns.  He has flu! Despite us both being vaccinated. He also put himself on a diet after Christmas, and, like most men, went hell for leather instead of gradually (sorry if seems rude, just my personal experience)  Last nights scare was a dip in blood pressure. Silly Billy, but that’s all thank goodness. No medication, back in a week

Punk nice to hear of a good deed in all this gloom.  How you feeling?

pauline hope you doing ok too

Joyce hope you staying warm  getting bit milder this afternoon

Dove hope your monitor is ok, no wonder your Bp was up when you got there

Obelixx, you have a different reading scale from us I think. Very impressed at your sewing skills!

Liro Busy, Pat, Hosta and anyone else I have missed “have a nice afternoon”

Re BP monitoring, my wife and her mum ....like most Russians are manic about it ....you will find a monitor of some sort in most homes......well given the standard diet it is a must !

Liri....my MILs cabbage pie is to die for ....and if I keep eating it I will....it is so full of butter in the pastry ...will get the Russian recipe translated ..... I personally love raw cabbage , especially the tart red variety. I love to make spicy coleslaw with a dressing made with Greek yogurt , not too much mayo , some nice mustard ....a little bit of fresh garlic and chili paste.

Just been out for our daily ......

LilyP,  I’m glad your OH is ok.

I think Punkdoc is feeling much better judging by his humour. I laughed out loud for quite a while tonight. Hubby wanted to know what was so funny.

If any of you want some Australian humour, I recommend Kerrie Greenwood’s series of fictional characters about the baker Corrine Chapman. You might be able to find it in a library. I’ve got mine on Kindle but you might not want to pay for the series. image

Sort of good news LP.  We've both had flu jabs this year too - my first for over a decade - so I hope they're the right ones.

Good story Pdoc.   Warms yer cockles!

Glad your OH is ok, Lily P.  It must have been a worry for you both.

Thanks Dacha.  Cabbage pie certainly sounds different....  and that icy photo is gorgeous!

We both had flu jabs this year ... they were obviously the right ones 'cos we spent Christmas with my son who was really ill with 'flu ... vomiting, passing out, the works ... and we're both ok.

Obelixx ... we're both painters ... we met at art school and share a studio ... OH has shown and sold internationally and only does 'a job'  part time ... my painting has been lower key although some quite notable people have my paintings on their walls.  Over  recent years my  job, elderly parents and my own health problems got in the way ... but I'm getting on with it again  image

Dacha ... is that the cabbage pie with chopped hardboiled eggs in it?  Yum (although I suspect your MIL's pastry is better than my ex DIL's).

LilyP ... tell your OH to take it easy .... my son was really really poorly and is still feeling the effects of it.

LP- hope your OH feels better soon.  Moderation is better when it comes to dieting.

We had a sudden thaw this morning and it looks as though rain might be on its way.

Dove - hope you can get effective medication for your B/P.

Liri- lovely to be able to spend some time with the recent arrival and to be of some assistanceimage

I'm already on some BP meds ... they seem not to be as effective as they were. I know I need more exercise but what with injuries to my shoulder and both knees plus a broken foot this last year has been a washout exercise-wise ... hopefully 2018 holds better things image
