We’ve just had a very loud thunderstorm with rain and lightning - wow! I think we’ve had about 20 mm rain. I’m not game to go to the gauge while the lightning is still around.
much cooler.
by the way apparently the sick cricketer had gastro - not heat exhaustion, but it must have been an awful day
Morning all. Been rather AWOL of late. (Absent with out leave to continue the theme of military acronyms).
Pat: how do you even function at that heat? I'd be hiding in the pantry long before it got that high. I honestly don't think I'd able to physically get enough fluids in me to function much less try to play cricket.
As of today I'm now working 5 days a week. Alas it's to baby sit another project and I won't go into more detail as my blood pressure is already too high because of it.
I've got a new boss though - this makes 8 since May. He's a good chap: too good for this place but hopefully he'll hang around.
The garden is... one hell of a mess. Between the dog and his lordship making paths in the grass to get to the shed / spot in the hedge where Reggie can watch the school children and their rat infested bird feeders, and the general neglect from focusing on the house. I'm going to order a skip so we can get some serious work. The hedge is coming to the end of its natural life with the care it's had; I want to try to see if I can relay it / cut it right down and hope it will regrow. I know we need to start now before the birds return (we'll do a section at a time so they'll always have somewhere - mind you all the neighbours have gone and filled the streets with cats now).

Hi Clari. I’m really impressed - we got 31.5mm in that hour And now my bare feet are cold. I’ve been in front of the air con for 3 days, wearing shorts, tank top and no shoes.
Good morning. Mild, grey and dry here. Making pistachio and cranberry biscuits this morning to take to patchwork and borscht for lunch.
Clari - good to see you're still with us. Pace yourself. Sounds like Reggie has plenty to keep him interested.
Chicky - not long till Easter and little Chicklet comes home for a while.
Re cricket - it is indeed mad to play any competitive sport in those temps and perhaps there should be rules. There are min and max temps for office and other workers after all. Having said that, there are lotions and clothing to protect skin and it's easy enough to have water on hand to re-hydrate people and I still have no sympathy for most of the English team who have, it seems to me, been most unprofessional throughout this tour.
Nice row on the Beeb this morning.

Good morning Joyce
Brrrr that sounds chilly .... not frosty here in Norfolk but I've a feeling it's going to get a bit colder before too long.
Carrot, ginger and orange soup will be made this morning ......

Hi all.
8 am appointment at hospital, it was minus 6 when I left home.
Now lovely and sunny, but still bitterly cold.
