Tripe image. The dogs love it. I couldn't get close enough to it to eat it - the smell.....

Lovely day here today - mild, sunny, no wind. We took the dogs for a run on the beach - first time since one broke his leg last August. All 3 hounds are now fast asleep with paws akimbo image

Glad the machine was an easy fix Busy - must get mine out of the box - not used it in aaages but there's loads needs doing - curtains and cushions and stuff. Safe trip tomorrow. Calm weather for travelling but watch out for the fog.

Starting to get that gardening twitch in my fingers again but everything is too wet, so I've been sorting seeds making planting plans, reading the seed catalogues. Must be a day of 'false spring' sunshine getting the brain running

We used to have tripe and onions when I was little.  Hated it and haven't been near it since.   I can, at last, get things like pork cheeks - and also unspeakable bits of pig - and ox cheeks (and tongue) here but the pigs' cheeks are more expensive than belly pork or free range chuck and take a lot more cooking so I shan't bother again.

We've just had sticky salmon steaks with stir fried Savoy and mangetouts.   Very tasty.

Have a good trip tomorrow Busy.   Love peter Rabbit and cuddles too.

Dove - I made her jammies for Xmas, lovely thick warm cotton jersey.  This request means I have to go fabric shopping as i have no more.   Good job I need interfacing and buttons too or OH would be grumping about shopping for "More Fabric!!!"

All the more for me imageimage

I used to do such a lot of sewing and enjoyed doing it... most of my own clothes and for the children when they were c hildren as well as all the curtains, blinds and soft furnishings ... but if I sew and knit and cook I'll never have time for painting and gardening image

I used to live close to Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, knew several USAF personnel who were based there and several of my friends and family are still very close to there and work on the former USAF Bentwaters site ... do you have a take on whatever went on there?

Dove , so many tales about this and other UFO sightings ....there were and are still so many secret experimental flying machines which us mere mortals should never hear about .....but they do exist ....you can google the topic and see what I mean . I heard so many great stories from the people here in Russia who were associated with the incredible space station MIR . Legendary UFO tales .....but some of the ground staff who we worked with on the telemetry systems from earth to the station.........explained that unlike US space missions ....the Russian ones were allowed to take a small amount of alcohol with them and they said that some of the sightings were based on this fact ! pics to come when we get back to Moscow  image

Re tripe......my ma made the best Dublin coddle with tripe ever ......however my memories were just about the texture of the tripe which I really did not like .....this one is a new fangled version https://www.rte.ie/lifestyle/recipes/2014/0402/743835-dublin-coddle/

I've done lots of googling Dacha ... I'm also pretty sure I saw something 'unusual' in the night sky once a goodly while ago.  The 'official story' about Rendlesham has changed over the years ... interesting eh?

As for tripe ...  I enjoy the flavour but it's the texture I love most of all ... I find the texture of different food very important image  As you say, that's quite a new-fangled Dublin Coddle image  We once had a lovely week in Dublin when OH was showing in a gallery on St Stephens Green.

    Hello folks.

We had colcannon with added smoked bacon today, to use up the surplus cabbage and spud.  I decided I wasn't brave enough to try Russian cabbage pie on my relatives before I'd tried it in private... but the colcannon was delicious, anyway.  image  Tomorrow I'll make a big batch of Portuguese "caldo verde" for the freezer, cos that uses a lot of cabbage and potatoes too - enlivened with chorizo.

I'm happy to say that I'm getting plenty of cuddles with the baby in between cooking, cleaning etc.  image

Today seems to be getting better and better.

As I missed Christmas, OH has booked for us to go to the Raby Hunt, which is supposed to be a great restaurant near Darlington.
