Glad you're both OK Hosta. There's another cat poo question today so that should help restore the coffers.

I accidentally had a flu jab this week. Well, not exactly accidental - unplanned perhaps.

Managed to get out in the garden today - it's been quite pleasant in a winter sort of way. Some pruning and clearing up wind damage done before the next storm arrives tomorrow. I would like to lodge a complaint with 'The Authorities' though - why can't we have a week of calm weather and one day of wind and rain rather than always one fine day and then a week of gales and a 5 day deluge? image

Ho hum. We had roast chicken last night - OH's turn to cook tonight - gammon steak, mash and red cabbage I believe image. I've just got to pick a dvd to watch.....

Love the paintings Dove - sorry to hear about the farmshop - both for your OH and for all the people that shopped there- must be very disappointing to lose somewhere like that.

I hope the storm isn't too bad RG, especially since you've prepared for it.

I've had my first flu jab for years.  Decades even, but there was a lot of bad flu round here last year and I'm not taking any chances.

Love red cabbage.   I'm inclined to agree about belly pork with no crackling but I'm hoping that the cider and onions and apples will make up for it and I've decided to treat us to Yorkshire puds since I'm not from Yorkshire and don't need to be a purist about them.

I've also made some Anzac biscuits to take to patchwork group tomorrow and have even cut out all the stuff I need for tomorrow's project of a log cabin glasses case.  What a good girl am I!

LG - how's the revising and studying going or is Sunday a day of rest?

Another cold and miserable day here, it is starting to get to me, however hard I try to remain cheerful.

I should be heading off for some sun now, but must try not to dwell on that.

Outpatients tomorrow, so lots to look forward to.

Sorry I probably should not post, when I feel like this.

I'm not keen on heading for the sun Pdoc ... better stay on the sofa and avoid the sort of adventures Hosta has experienced.

    Hello all.

Hugs to Hosta and hubby.  What a horrible experience!

LG - you feeling less out of sorts today?  Perhaps you need some sunshine (or a light box to simulate some, until the real stuff arrives).

LilyP - do hope your cough relents soon.  Steam and sympathy might help...

    Nice to see you, Topbird!

I'm having a "catching up day" after returning from Granny duties.  The baby is (mostly) delightful, though his first-time parents are still pretty shell shocked.  But their house is cleaner than when I arrived, the freezer is full, and I've tried to answer their parenting questions, though not always very helpfully... "Any idea why he's crying?"  "Not really... I expect he'll stop eventually..."

I've just printed the boarding cards for our flights to & from La Palma.  We're flying early on Thursday morning but I haven't really had time to think about it until today.  They predict a max of 19C when we arrive, more to my taste than Hosta's preferred mid-thirties...

It sounds as if they go in for interesting first names in Cromer, Dove.  Icarus and Garston...

Pdoc - if it's any comfort the cold / wet / windy / snowy weather is affecting many of us adversely and the forecast for the coming week doesn't help.

Hope OP appt. goes well tomorrow.

Pdoc - January can be miserable even if you're well and you do have a bit to grump about.   Just have to find things to do or plan and good books to read and films to watch.  Hope all goes well tomorrow and you cheer up soon.

Liri - I always think that if a young baby cries, he/she needs cuddles and then you work out whether it's wind, hunger, mucky bum or just needing a bit of loving - assuming it's otherwise healthy.   Sounds like you've been a great help but hope you're not too exhausted to enjoy your break.

Sounds like you've been exactly what was needed, Liri. I remember that shell-shockedness so well. I too was always searching for certainty, for answers, for the rulebook I suppose! It took me a while to realise there wasn't one. Second time round, of course,  I was much more go with the flow. Enjoy your trip!

I am indeed less out of sorts. Sad to say, I think "it's me 'ormones". A whole day in the garden, and a couple of hours today, has helped. Obelixx, the studying is going well. The revision less so - I'm having difficulty getting the required sense of urgency! Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy all day and is earmarked for some serious study, however.

Punkdoc, it's been very dark and gloomy of late. I don't think you're the only one feeling the effects. But spring is on its way! Things are sprouting image. Hang on in there. Are you still using your light box? (have I remembered correctly that you have one?).
