They sent Masterchef Professionals competitors there in the last series. It looks amazing. Jay Rayner rates it very highly indeed. Bit of a trek tho. Will you stay over?
DL - that cake looks like obscenely huge.
I'm off to bed now my Kindle has re-charged. Sweet dreams all.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Yes Hubby did. It’s facing towards our place which is on the left, and the cliff is where our land meets the river. We could still do with a lot more rain, but me no complain!.
It's looking very green Pat. Lovely views. We had 4.6mm yesterday and overnight. Less than promised but welcome nonetheless.
Bad news yesterday. The village newsletter tells us work is to start on a wind turbine park between us and St Cyr-Talmondais. 10 big uns. I loathe wind turbines and given that this area is known as the "côte de la lumière"(light) you have to wonder why they don't just give or subsidise everyone a few solar panels. I shall be looking in to it anyway.
That's a quick appointment GWRS! We go next Tuesday to have more metal fillings replaced with modern stuff.
Dove - for me, sewing goes much faster than knitting and embroidery and felt decs are things I can do to keep my hands busy while watching TV. Not good enough to knit on auto pilot.
Sunny start today but no frost. Cleaning this am then showers and SM and fabric run. No walkies for me as we have dance class this evening.

Morning all, how everyone's OK. LP, is OH on the mend? And did you go down with it? Hope not.
Punkdoc when do you go for your meal? What a wonderful treat - and a wonderful OH!
Liri it sounds like you're busy and getting lots of cuddles in, how lovely. Is OH fully recovered now? BL, hope you have a god trip to Norfolk. Great news about the sewing machine.
Going back to pet names for children for a moment: having said that Grublet would suit Trill as she looks like a little animal when she's asleep, I suddenly remembered that Bow was called Little Grub when she was tiny. It was because for her first day or two (she was early, though not dangerously so) you could still see clearly how she'd been folded up in the womb - there were sort of matching dents which enabled her to be folded incredibly neatly into a grub-like shape. Of course I was too tired and overwhelmed to think to take a photo, and it wore off very quickly, but I wisn I had. It was quite extraordinary, and I'd completely forgotten, so thanks for inspiring that memory!
Pat that is a gorgeous photo. Is the building on the left your house? I have a much better idea of your setting now. And Dacha, loved the icy photo too.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
I've just skimmed back over the last couple of days . I hope I've not missed too much.
I can vouch for the artistic talents of both Dove and OH.
Punkdoc, It's nice to be appreciated and good luck with gardening and OU studies.
Pat, what a difference a bit of rain makes eh?
No real change here. Hot, sunny , divine. Cool nights require an extra layer when venturing out to eat. Hey ho,
We had a major disaster 2 days ago. I didn't know who to contact: The Red Cross or the UN.
I broke my tea pot!!!!!
I put a pan of water on the ring to boil and the teapot was beside it, but I switched the wrong ring on and then went outside on the balcony to wait for it to boil . I spoke to the cleaner yesterday morning and withing 10 minutes he's found me a rather lovely replacement from one of the empty rooms.
I hope everyone is well and enjoying January. ( if that's not some weird oxymoron)
Hi Obelixx, sorry to hear about the wind farm. I like them, but I know not everyone does. Will it be close enough to hear them? That's the bit that would bother me.
Meant to say, Hosta thanks for the Liggy max/min idea, I might have gone for that but I'm going to stick with Bow and Trill, I think.
The concert was ace - still can't quite get over seeing her on the Barbican stage. It went really well and she had a fabulous time. And they were playing Holst's The Planets, which I love. It was good to hear the bits I wasn't so familiar with as well as the famous bits. I went early to drop her off at the dress rehearsal, so hung around the Barbican for a couple of hours before the concert, which was a delight - such an amazing place to be.
Dove, hope the mammogram went well. Not my favourite experience, but needs must.
Also meant to say - I really enjoy Iris foetidissima. I have a bit of a thing about insignificant flowers that are beautiful when you look closely. Of course the berries are gorgeous too - I had lots this year. Their shiny-ness (shininess?) contrasted with the gnarly casing really appeals.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
This is the river after a bit of welcome rain.
Good morning all
G'day Pat
They view is beautiful. How on earth did you get that view? Did you use the drone?
