  • Bit of a trial... hope they manage a restful break once they get there.

Hope Dove junior is feeling a bit better by tomorrow - think he’ll have to celebrate his birthday again in a few weeks time to make up for the rotten one he’s just had.

Love the sound of Finnish penguins Liri - any pics coz I’m intrigued image

Lovely to get an unexpected party Lizzie.  image

Got a day up in London planned for tomorrow (hence the whirlwind of activity earlier) ....should be fun

  • Congratulations Chicky ... hope you've got a decent amount of days off image

Dove Junior thinks he can discern a slight improvement thank you  ... I think he sounds a wee bit brighter ... but he says it's all he can do to go downstairs and make himself a cuppa and then go back upstairs to bed.  He didn't know flu was this bad ......... he does now, bless him.

  • I'm glad he's improving, Dove, even though it's very slow... a late birthday celebration definitely sounds like something for him to look forward to.

Enjoy your hols, Chicky!  I'll photograph the penguins tomorrow, in the light.  image

  • Thanks Lirio image  Bless him ... perhaps he should stick a pin in the summer section of the calendar ...he's always thought it was unfair to have his birthday so close to Christmas ...(and almost on the shortest day too) ...... and it was his fault ....... he was due on the 7th! image

    Evening everyone.

Mixed success on the shopping trip today - the SM car park was rammed full (not even a space up the top by the recycling bins!) so I turned back, assuming the queues inside would be awful, and took a chance on the small SM attached to a petrol station... managed to buy a decent-ish ham and a few bits so job done.

Haven't felt massively festive but I can recommend the two-part 'Back in time for Christmas' (BBC iPlayer) about Christmas dinners over the decades, for a nice mix of nostalgia, festive traditions and interesting food history. I really enjoyed those programmes, even if a repeat, and felt a tad more Christmas-y for it.

Enjoy the weekend everyone - keep safe and germ-free!

Dove - my mum always says I was 10 days early - female and keen to get on with it whereas my brother was 10 days late and always wanted things done for him..   She does have a jaundiced view of the male of the species........    Lots of Possum's winter born school friends had their birthday party in spring so maybe your son could try that.

Chicky - have to think you're mad thinking London will be fun tomorrow but hope it goes OK and you have a good time.

Busy - hope you're pleased with the decorating.

Possum' jammies are done - "help" from both kitties.  Such fun.   Late dinner and now ready for bed.   Up early tomorrow to fetch Possum from Nantes airport.

Safe journeys for anyone travelling tomorrow.
