Sounds like everything's under control then...except for the cooking.
I did a whirlwind visit to "bigtown" yesterday and I'm almost sorted so now I can get on with the finishing touches on the handmade gifts (starting touches on some ). Let's hope the giftees appreciate my efforts.
W'rose is bonkers ... schools have finished so lots of Grannies and Grandpas trying to herd small shoals of over-excited children ... the children are obviously just trying to wind grandparents up for the sake of it then looking around at everyone else and giggling ....... but the last parcel has been posted
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Our one essential in this house is “Ice Cream Christmas Pudding” which Hubby has already got made and in to the freezer for the Day. No hot pudding for us at. Christmas .
Back from an excellent lunch after the fish market and a raid on the SM. No razor clams!!! Spaghetti vongole it is then. Restaurant very quiet. Supermarket heaving. However, major supplies are in so just the fresh veg to buy on Friday. I can go at lunch time to avoid the crush.
Busy - there's a Gifi in Luçon. Only ever been in summer looking for picnic plates and parasols but will try it for crackers. Thanks. Oil based paints pong and it can take days of open windows to lose the smell but they do give a very durable finish for wood. Water based paints for walls are almost odour free once dry. Modern paints for interior wood can be oil or water based these days and need a few days to harden before you let "traffic" near them.
Hosta - I don't envy you your more stupid customers or all that Xmas musac.
Well done everyone. You all sound very organised.
Joyce - toe still dodgy so reduced walking for me. X-rays on Boxing Day to see what's going on but once I'm over the pre-Xmas sewing and crafting and cleaning and cooking phase I shall don my heavy soled old fell boots and some cushioning ski socks and walk every day we're not dancing.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Evening all. Just reading back... good to hear about all the different 'essential' Christmas food stuffs! I forgot that sauagemeat and apricot stuffing is a staple here too (note to self: defrost sausagemeat by Sunday!!). My 'top shelf' red just means a more pricey one - I'm not a wine snob but do buy a special one for Christmas Day.
One more day in work before a few days off... I will be on high alert for all those with coughs and colds who insist on struggling in to work just before Christmas, and any offenders will be kept at a safe distance!
We like a nice wine too but it's a lot more complicated now we're in France. In Belgium there was lots of French wine about but also German, Italian, Spanish, Oz, Kiwi, Chile, Argentina......... With those we knew what we were getting from one week, month, season to another.
Now we're having to "experiment" as the variety of wines in each region is wide and there are huge differences between the regions and you need to know about "terroir", soil, climate in a given year, grape variety, which socks they wore to trample the grapes.......... Big learning curve.

Harumph. Putting the towels back in the boiler/airing cupboard, I discovered a leak from a joint in a pipe below the boiler. Boiler man is coming back in the morning to put it right - meanwhile we are sharing the bedroom with piles of sheets and towels, and there's a bucket under the drip...
Hosta, congratulations on keeping civil in the face of immense provocation!
Just looked up the recipe for Christmas pudding ice cream.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Comment of the day :
" I think it's ridiculous that you have to buy something now before you get a free coffee"
Can anyone name any other business which will give you something free every single day? Ungrateful cow.

Keep warm, safe and germ-free all!
