Ahhh don't mind it just as long as everyone gets here! Sorry if I sound selfish but my son in law has a problem every time he comes, wind delays flights flooding cancels trains! He hasn't been here for 18 months!
thank you

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Lovely sunrise to enjoy from the train this morning. Pre-Christmas visit to Mum, sister and family; no aches or fever this morning so I don't think I'm infectious, though I shall keep my distance just in case.
Yes, fingers crossed for family visits after Christmas, Lily P. My Irish lot will be arriving on 27th, all being well!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Something and nothing weather here. Bit of a breeze , hazy sun, but at least it's dry. I had the tractor mower out yesterday and it's like a quagmire out there. Lots of wheel spinning on muddy grass.
Pat, we have an air con unit in our conservatory, but it's never hot enough to justify using it.
too flippin' expensive to run. In summer, I open the window, and in winter I use the woodburner.
As far as the conservatory is concerned: I open the door from the sitting room and and if it's colder in the conservatory , I shut it again. If it's warmer than the sitting room, I leave it open.
In 6 years we've never sat in there. The furniture has dust sheets over it.
Obelixx, meant to say that I'd have been surprised if you'd said there wasn't a ban on free carrier bags on the continent, since Europe generally has things sorted way before we do in Britain.

Lovely long lie in this morning catching up on much needed sleep and some cuddles with Cosmos who is spending his first day without a sock since November 5th! Just a wee scabby bit left in the middle and he's managed to re-grow almost a whole central paw pad. Clever boy. Rasta looks like she has giant freckles where I've bathed her wounds with iodine stuff.
Sunny and mild and very calm. Our forecast says winds rising and pressure dropping for the 28th and 29th but dry until then.
I hope it stays calm for all of you travelling, ore expecting family and friends to travel for the festivities.
Like Dove, I expect FG is up to her elfin ears in rosettes and wrists. Hope so and that you're OK FG.
Liri - Our local council in Gembloux was very quick off the mark with the whole re-cycling thing about 20 years ago. First move was to issue wheelie bins with bar codes and weigh each bin as it was tipped into the truck then charge households accordingly. Then, shortly afterwards, they issued transparent bin bags for plastic bottles, tetra pack and tins which they collected free. Concentrated people's minds and no naughty fly tipping. They collect green waste for free if people have no transport of their own or they offer composting lessons and subsidised bins. They put bottle banks outside cemeteries on the grounds the smashing wouldn't wake up the residents....
Similar process here except since the beginning of this year all packaging can go in the transparent bags. That said, the UK is better and further forward at animal welfare such as standards for pigs, calves, chucks, eggs and implemented those new rules ahead of the EU mainland.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Depends where in France for collection, Obelixx. I'm only 20 minutes from the capital town, but 4kms from the main road so the bin men refuse to collect my rubbish and they certainly wouldn't go down my 1km drive. I have to drive it in the car to the nearest big bin. But I get given re-cycling bags if I go to the Mairie when it's open on Monday or Wednesday afternoons, 4kms away. No collection for green waste but I can dump mine in the forest, part of which is part of my place anyway. The recycling centre is nearly 20 mins away. I have to pay over 700€ a year for rubbish collection as part of my council tax.
Been to town for a meeting with OH's bank, I went to translate. But on the way back OH said he wanted to get me a tablet for Christmas, so we stopped at the shop, a bit like Curry's. I don't know when I'd ever use a tablet, I like my Laptop and we have a Laptop at the cottage, OH has an iPad. But they had a Rowenta Steam and Clean. I'd seen it on TV, you can sweep and wash the floor at the same time. He didn't want to get me that, said it wasn't romantic, but I wanted one, don't care about romantic, sounds useful as there is quite a lot of tiled floor here, so he gave in.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

LP, read in yesterday's paper that further snow and cold expected after Christmas.

Well, you could always use it for heating, Hosta

We just use it to dry the laundry.

You could re-name it the laundry room, Hosta...
