THAnks Dove. That was my thought as well. It’s absolutely loaded.
I haven’t been well since the hot weather started, so I’m planning a conversation with my GP at my next appt about the need to continue using the anxiety medication when it seems to me that it’s only bad when it gets hot. I’m certainly not anxious about anything at the moment. You might be able to tell that I hate taking this medication. It brings me out in night sweats and heart palpitations. I’ve had similar conversations with her before, but I think I need to try again.
Held our "big" volunteers Christmas party last night - 60 volunteers invited. 13 turned up. The poor tea and cake group that meets every Friday (they were in the room next door) were given almighty goody bags and then the homeless charity a few doors down had a delivery too.
Its such a busy time of the year and people are so busy!
We had one "volunteer" who has been unwell recently, we knew she was "inactive" but still wanted her to be included so she was invited to attend. She did (thank goodness) but spent the whole time refusing to join in because she was RETIRED and no longer a volunteer. I nearly had to leave the room when another lady turned around to her after quite clearly getting fed up with her comments and said "so what are you doing here eating all the cake that's for volunteers then?"
Still; it was good fun and we're already planning for a BBQ in the summer (aggh).
Clari - I learned thru years of running the dance club and twinning activities before that - it's always the same people who turn up and help no matter how many members there are. I recall being amazingly polite to a pair of "virgin" volunteers who turned up 15 minutes before the show started to help organise the end of year show which involved setting up the bar, tables and seats for 450 people, setting up the edible refreshments, supplying drinks to the changing rooms and setting up the two entrance desks for pre-paid and cash on the night tickets. We had been at it since 6pm the night before, including rehearsals for the dancers! Two top psychiatrists with big brains and no idea!
Chicky - I've been making the Creole cake for years now. It's brilliant. Soaked my fruit last Sunday and then parked it in the fridge. I use dried apricots and cranberries instead of glacé cherries which no-one here likes. Baking tomorrow. No need to feed it and it keeps for months tho Easter is the latest ours has lasted. Tends not to be eaten at Xmas but as tasty fuel during early spring gardening blitzes.
I had a lie in this morning - achy neck and head - so OH took advantage and has got his Xmas tree installed in the living room and I have added a large soluble aspirin to its water to help keep it looking good. Just letting the branches relax now and then will decorate tomorrow.
Xmas dance this evening so a quiet afternoon's pottering in store for me.
Your tree looks happy Pat. Hope you get those meds sorted.

I managed to chop enough wood, already cut, to use in the woodburner .
Hubby wants to watch "strictly" tonight. I'll watch Last Leg from last night in another room. The dancing bit I love, but all the hooting and screeching from the audience " does my head in" and why does every dance warrant a standing ovation? No thanks.

Can you get your Lovely Woodman to give it the once over Hosta ... he's probably good at that sort of thing

Think you need a cold shower Hosta ... perhaps you could rig one up in the garage ...
