Car insurance is OH's domain.  I have managed to get away with another day of no tree or decs!  Yes!

Told OH - who started cleaning the living room in anticipation of tree - that we had to start from the top down and, after much grumping, has manfully wielded the cobweb buster and proper Miele vacuum cleaner upstairs while I did my sewing room and the bathroom.  He's also done the downstairs loo with teh cobweb buster and is now complaining there's a large spider in there starting new ones.   Fine by me, just don't tell Possum.   She'll have abdabs.

Now cooking guinea fowl with tarragon and sherry - Delia - for supper so that'll distract him for a while.

Glad the finger is doing better Liri.  Hope OH is resting properly and will be able to enjoy Xmas.   I loved my own baby to bits but don't find anyone else's interesting till a few months old and starting to show personality.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening and no nasty weather surprises.

Been a quiet day, dusting, washing, hoovering, wrapping presents and putting up some greenery. Feel tired though, fell asleep in front of the TV. Have had a lot of heavy rain.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Busy day here too and wet as well.

We all seem to have been doing the same today   Why do. we clean before everyone comes?  Would it not be far more sensible to leave it till they have all gone?

We have sheet ice, it's lethal. Local garage selling the crampon thingies for shoes. Has anyone tried them? Do they work?

Cos we want the place to look nice for guests and it' a lot easier to do before any decs go up.   With any luck it'l stay looking good for more than 5 minutes.

OH bought some of those a couple of years ago for walking dogs in snow and slush.  Didn't get on with them at all on back country lanes with underlying mud.   However a friend in urban Stoke has bought some for walking her dog in the local park and is very pleased.

Why do we clean before receiving guests Lily Pilly?   It's all down to the "Houseproud" gene.  It's predominantly found in the female of the species, and some exceptional male specimens. imageimage

    Before I "get me coat"......

Busy image. You are a superwoman. I hope you have a great time, and that everyone pitches in if you're hosting for all the family this Christmas.

Waving to DD & Charlie too ?. My best wishes to you both this Christmas ?. Have a good one ??.

Yes we've got Yaktrax ... wonderful for walking on ice and snow ... wouldn't be without them.

Cleaning before putting the decs up? Of course, once a year doesn't seem excessive to me image

I was thinking of DD and Charlie yesterday ... I'm sure life is very busy for them ... I hope they have a wonderful Christmas image

Morning all. Beautiful pink sun rise here.

I was reading an article about pre-guest house prep yesterday - I recognised: dumping clutter to a spareroom, putting the'nice' soap out, plumping cushions, turning the heating up etc. Isn't it strange how people wish to make the impression of living in a totally clean, clutter free, posh cups, hair/make-up done, no expense spared on food and heating etc. lifestyle! We put pressure on ourselves to create this effect! There's some interesting psychology going on there.

I wonder what you are all up to today? I haven't made any plans yet as I am just glad to be off work! Keep safe everyone - don't want any pre-Crimbo accidents with all the house prep and icy weather going on!

The "big clean" in Scotland has always tended to be for New Year.

I still like to have everything done before midnight on the 31st.
