Happen your road is more remote than many round here tho I do see bags and bins left at the ends of small unmade roads for the bin men.   We've been told we're moving to night time collections next year........  Not sure what our rubbish collection costs are but certainly not that high.

I think a practical prezzie you will use is much better than a romantic one you won't - and what's romantic about a tablet?  OH bought me a 3 strand pearl bracelet 23 years ago.  I'd asked for automatic garage door openers and hit the roof, gently, after Boxing Day.  I got the automatic dooberries later that spring and we used them daily.  I've worn the bracelet about 3 times.  Possum is relieved that this year I don't want gardening or cooking stuff.   Crafty stuff is more acceptable apparently.

For a short while we had a collection twice a month, then passers-by dumped their rubbish which I had to clear up as the foxes and badgers ripped the bags open. The bin men wouldn't collect ripped bags. Then they said I wasn't on their route.

OH says our rubbish collection fees are 130€ a year.   In the new year we will be moving from fortnightly collections of everything to weekly but alternating between wheelies and recycling but going to weekly in the summer season.   Two recycling centres, both about 10 minutes away and manned alternate days.   The coastal resorts already do night time collections.  As the recent mergers of local councils goes thru, we are now part of a coastal conglomerate council.

I'd have thought if you're paying local taxes you're on a local route!

Lovely and sunny here but I have to cut out and sew some warm pyjamas for Possum.....

Evening all. Hope everyone making their way through any Crimbo prep without hitches. I've just added to my SM delivery list so should be suitably stocked-up with goodies and nibbles. Haven't "gone mad" this year as no big hostings and will be in work for some of it anyway.

What are everyone's essential foodie items this Christmas??

I always have a bottle of 'top shelf' red, a tub of cheese-footballs and smoked salmon ?

There are some very unhealthy demands in this house,

homemade lemonade, cream de cassis, butterscotch sauce, anchovy biscuits and brandy butterimage

Aunty Rach what is top shelf red? Made from grapes?

a word of caution to everyone, I did a huge Sm shop today and couldn't find my card when reached the till. Must have lost it over the weekend. Just going to fast, time to slow down.

LP......"just going to fast"......is this due to losing your card and being unable to pay

or   just going too fast? image

Hope Hosta is back asleep ?.......15 minutes til his alarm goes off

Starting to make some serious lists ....things to do, things to buy (food, thankfully pressies now all sorted), things to cook ??‍?.  Think I might be running out of hours in a day image.  Still, all part of the excitement - don’t think I’d enjoy it in quite the same way without the rather frantic build up image.

Piccalilli is on our essential list Aunty Rach image

  • Good morning all ... where's my smilies gone!?

good luck Hosta :-). OH is working this morning, normally a day off, as his boss has the lurgy.

My son took to his bed with the lurgy too yesterday ... hope he's better by the time we go there on Christmas Eve ...
