    Morning all again.

I managed another hour, so that's 3 in total.  I'm sooooooooo looking forward to 6 hours standing at a till.

We had some particularly unpleasant , rude customers yesterday ( and some delightful ones )

    Morning all.

Christmas will be quiet this year as not my turn for the family. Also the decorating man is here, making good after the flood. He is starting the family room today. Hope it doesn’t reek of paint as we I’ll be having Christmas lunch there with our friends. The dining room is shut and the heating turned off.

Tonight is the Carol Service in the local village church that we decorated on Monday Then we’ll be going to a restaurant fo dinner with some friends.

When the family come they expect roast beef, trifle, chocolate mousse and crackers. Crackers aren’t always easy to find here in France. I’d stock up I’d we went to the UK in the car, but now there is a shop selling them.

    Morning

no "fasting" likely to happen here, everyone has huge favourites at Christmas. I also have to confess I love cooking. Losing my card was annoying but I could withdraw the balance on line and move it to another account . Card useless, clever online banking!

Hosta, hope you get through the day and meet nice people

Joyce I think it is very mild here today as the dog won't come in, crazy after last week!

Busy hope the painter gets finished, I believe a cut onion does the trick for smells

Dove I hope your son recovers quickly, seem to be a lot of bugs around just now, stay well yourself

best get going, daughter and two littlies arrive today. Making the Rudolph cakes for them coming. Thanks for the tip Busy, or was it Obelixx? Whoever it was it's a super idea!

    have a good day

Not me.  I don't do any fancy icing decoration on cakes.  Hope they like them.

Possum has a long list of essential foods for her week's stay.  If we get thru it we'll all be spherical.  She wants garlicky prawns, foie gras, roast belly pork, roast parsnips, a curry, roast lamb and mint jelly, a Thai soup, a Krean something and Xmas dinner of duck breast with red wine and juniper sauce with  gratin dauphinois and broccoli.  No sprouts.   Then there's sticky toffee pudding, bread and butter pudding, yule log, jam tarts (she doesn't like mince pies)..............

Hosta night for me last night so feeling bleary.   Off to the fish market at Sables d'Olonne this morning then a fishy lunch and then home to pyjamas which are laid out ready to cut and sew.

Busy - I hope you get your decorating done in time.  We have crackers left from last year.  No idea where I'd find any round here.

Away with all lurgies and bugs so everyone can enjoy their festivities.

Hope you're OK Pdoc.  You've gone quiet again.

Supposed to be foggy this morning but it's clear and frosty after a fabulous rosy sunset.   Stay safe on the roads if you're travelling.

Community Pharmacy  at Christmas.   Stress all round. Will we make the silly target set by Head Office? How many will come in on xmas eve having run out of tablets and the doctors are shut? ( We used to run a sweep on that) . Phone calls from those who must have a months supply of tablets, having had a months supply last week. Will the wholesalers be out of cough mixture/ flu remedies just as the epidemic reaches a peak. ? Rota on xmas day for the person who forgot to get the baby milk in when he was  doing the xmas food shop.  Rota on boxing day for indigestion remedies.  Can the delivery driver drop off something to the farm,? they can't get out in their tractor due to snow. Get the company helicopter out!!! Pull the plug on the phone.

Someone get me a large coffee and a valium sandwich.

Do I miss it after 40 years? No.

I would plan a nice quiet Christmas, except 18 other members of my family won't let me.

A plea from all those left behind. If your life depends on certain medication, please check you have enough to last until  Jan 2nd. If not, sort it out Today. The manufacturers shut down tomorrow until new year.

Everyone else and those who are already organised, have a Happy Christmas.

    Morning all.

LP, very mild here too. Didn't need electric blanket on last night.

Obelixx, lots of dog walking will help to get rid of effects of excess eating.

Busy, it will be good to have the house back to normal after the flood.

Yes it will, Joyce, but I have to wait until 5th February for the flooring upstairs.

Lily P, it wasn't me either! Do you do anything with the cut onion or do you just leave it in the room? Glad you dealt with the lost card before money disappeared. That must have been a panic moment.

Obelixx, do you have a shop called "Gifi" near you? That's where I found crackers. It's a bit like a French Woolworths.

  • Morning everyone.

Mum appeared to enjoy the visit from her daughters yesterday - she was agitated when we arrived, but as soon as I told her about the new baby she latched on to that news, and it made her really happy.  She just kept saying "Lovely!  Lovely!"  image

Our boiler is serviced so Christmas should be warm in this house.  image  We have to remember to be up, dressed and in our right mind before 8am on the day the boiler engineer comes... he'd arrive before 8 if we'd let him in, but we're RETIRED.  image

Fidget, well said!  Must remind OH to collect his repeat prescription...

Forgot, when talking about essential foods for Christmas, that SIL made a special request for home-made raspberry ice cream...  image  ...maybe a job for today.

  • Busy, hopefully your decorator will be using the new low-odour, water-based paints.  The smell seems to disperse really quickly from those.  image
