I've just popped into work to tell them I'll work "late" on Sunday if either of the other drivers wants to go to xmas party ( I'd rather stick needles in my eyes )
I've got the woodburner roaring so I'm off with a cuppa and a wee bit of cake to catch up on Blue Planet.
Hi all, woke and noticed a vague smell of burning in the kitchen when I went to make a coffee. Turned out it was coming from the main electricty fuse which was rather warm! Now sitting waiting for the power distribution company visit. Typical, just as the cold weather arrives.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Hope you get that fixed soonest Bob. Hosta - know what you mean bout Xmas parties. I find you either have to organise it - so it's reasonably entertaining and well managed - or avoid like the plague.
Shopping done. OH's birthday lunch had - excellent - and my birthday lemon tree bought. 3 huge ripe fruits on it and 4 on the way and it's hardy here. Academic today as it's 14C and sunny. Won't last tho.as they're promising another 20mm or so of rain tomorrow and Sunday. We'll see.
LP - forgot to tell you, sorry - I wear pants or skirts and a top to dance class with sleeve lengths varying according to season. When It's warm I'm more likely to wear a skirt or a frock with a flippy skirt. Others wear jeans, "office" skirts and occasionally frocks. For soirées/balls, I have a range of swirly skirts and evening pants and tops and a few special frocks but these are social occasions so none of the boned/netted/sequinned/layered structures you see on Strictly. Those are more like competition dresses with built-in bras, bodies and leotards. I have a selection of suede soled dance shoes in different colours and all with one inch heels as I can't do higher with my new feet. In fact, they're so comfy I'm thinking of ordering a new set and getting rubber soles fitted for day wear.

I heard this morning that a mere 54 people are going to the xmas party. Given that most of them are couples , and we was a staff of around 120 in store, it doesn't scream success before it's even happened.
2 episodes of blue planet watched, I think I'll try for Home of the Year after lunch.
Obelixx ... many years ago when I was a newly-wed in a new bungalow we had a lovely neighbour who had 'retired to the country' from Wimbledon ... several of her former neighbours and friends had also moved onto the same estate in a small market town in Suffolk.
Over the garden fence she told me how she and her late husband had loved to dance all their courtship and married life, and she and all her friends still danced and had started a new dance club now they'd moved to Suffolk.
One day she invited me into her bedroom and opened the large fitted wardrobe doors .......... an explosion of multi-coloured chiffon, tulle sequins and net burst out into the room ... she had so many amazing frocks .... that was the 'Come Dancing' era
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Many moons ago I went to the company Xmas do, organised for the first time by the new staff sports and social club committee. 300 eligible employees plus their partners and 120 went - bad meal, bad live band, pretty dire. " You organise it then!" So I did. This involved co-opting a pal and doing teh rounds of Heathrow hotels to see who had a) kitchens with enough ovens to do 300 live meals rather than re-heated and b) a decent dance floor. I spent the budget on food and wine and DJ rather than a band and conscripted colleagues to do a quick comedy show during coffee. it was a blast.
So successful in fact that they decided to organise a company wide one in Bloomsbury for 1000 the following year and opted for a Caribbean theme with limbo dancers and fire eaters. I did warn them not to put prawns on the menu but they ignored me. Can't tell you how bad the loos were as people queued up with instant food poisoning..............
Snoozle for me now.

We're having a cèilidh this year instead of the usual work 'Christmas do'. Will be interesting to see how it goes and quite looking forward to it for a change!
Regarding the electricity problem, all I can say is Western Power Distribution deserve a medal! Main fuse and holder now replaced, hole in drive filled-in with membrane & slate chippings returned. More importantly the heating back on. You can only tell there was a big hole there an hour ago because the slate is darker where it has been turned! Big thumbs up for WPD.

we had a quick trip to Canberra for some Christmas shopping today and I’m whacked.
Watching a concert by Anthony Callea. I think it will be bed after that.

Nice and warm here, in the house, heating on, summer tee shirt, snow on the Moors though.
Electricity peeps now digging hole in the front garden. At least they didn't need to clear any snow first.
