Yes, but if they can't leave you alone to take your holiday they should compensate you either with extra pay or hols carried over.   Use it or lose it works 2 ways.   Either that or tell them to fix it without you.

We have a clean tiled floor in the annex!!!   Can't walk on it till tomorrow and can't put furniture on it till Friday but happy just to gaze at it for now.  A small thing but a long wait.

Liri - frightening what people sprayed in gardens.    Bit like DDT and Agent Orange on a domestic scale but just as devastating locally.   Wouldn't want an old car now - too used to power steering, ABS brakes, heating, radio and a plug for the car fridge.........    Essential when buying fresh fish or ice cream in summer.

  • Wow, Joyce!!!

Ignoring the last one...  image  ...I remember my Dad talking about using DDT in the garden.  It was seen as a wonder cure.

I also remember him using wall plugs made of asbestos, which you mixed with water and shoved in the hole.  And asbestos is definitely a dirty word in this valley, where there was a "blue" asbestos mill four miles away in Hebden Bridge, with many affected workers dying of mesothelioma long before the mill owners succumbed to legal pressure to make compensation payouts.  The local council is currently trying to cap an old tip, where asbestos has been revealed because of a landslip.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Evening all.

Hope everyone doing ok. Hosta - did you go swimming on hols? Very common to have an ear infection after holiday swims - unpleasant though, particularly if it makes you a bit dizzy.

I have some bad news for those of us that like to lick the cake mixture...now raw flour is classed as unwise to consume in case of bacteria like E.coli. We all know that the raw egg in cake mixtures is a reason not to lick the spoon but I always think it's worth the risk! Now with the flour 'scare' too, I declare Christmas is ruined!

Some people like to throw themselves out of planes

Others like to like raw cake mix.

Dare devils the lot of us!

    Evening all.

I have to confess to succumbing to a siesta. I did only have 3 hours sleep last "night"

Can anyone fill me in the last 2 weeks of Corry? Please tell me the vile Vic Reeves has left. please.

Lots of blue planet to catch up with too.

Liri, it might not be too long before plastic, in some forms, joins the banned list.

AuntyR....I've made it to well over 27 and have eaten a fair share of raw cake mix since I was a nipper.

I am usually quite risk-averse - but raw cake mix just makes me feel so alive!!!

Always lick the spoon of a cake mix but not muffin mixes.  Dreadful whether sweet or savoury.   Different processes.   Given that the USA grows and slaughters chicken in such horrendous ways they need to douse the carcasses in chlorine, I'm not surprised they find E-coli in their flour.

Had a wee snoozle too Hosta.   Brain boggled by curtain measuring I think.   Not done this style before - eyelet/grommet tops so no room for mistakes.  Sorry, haven't watched Corrie since the early days with Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner and Minnie Caldwell when I were just a lass.

Been clearing up and packing, back to France tomorrow.

Friends came round for drinks then we got fish and chips from the village shop. Bed soon, early start.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
