    Morning everyone,

Hosta, I am going to try and avoid politics today, if at all possible

Clari well done remembering, hope the lads ( do you have Girl Scouts nowadays?) surprise you

Punk not good about your pc and sorry to hear O H under the weather, personally I think bed is the best place to be today! It's pretty grim everywhere

We have talked, grimaced, laughed andwrung our hands in anguish over the state of our country but from a very selfish point of view everyone I know is just relieved another indi2 has been stalled.

i notice a small piece in the paper today about no one willing to discuss the Donald's visit, looks like it may not happen as there is so much unrest on both sides! Now wouldn't HRH love that! Every cloud.......

Pat hope your weather improves, I won't forget my kids faces when they saw the first rosellas on our bird table. Lovely birds but noisy!

Obelixx you wouldn't be painting things outside here! Looking forward to seeing the end results and to refresh yourself tasting local wines sounds very appropriate!

right need to do some weeding, midges dreadful tho.........,

Morning all/afties Pat - at least you can now choose between our political news and the US stuff to see which one you want to avoid most image

That's how it looked here earlier in the week - rain rather than fog though. At least it's gone off for now. It went off yesterday afternoon but was back on by evening. Normal summer service resumed  image

Hosta - what a b***er about the Cannas. I wasn't aware of the virus being widespread. I was thinking about getting one for the new border but I hadn't got round to it. What can you do to avoid it at all - or can't you?  image

Glad all went well with your Strawb Tea BL. I don't know where you get the enrgy. I'm exhausted just now, but there's been a viral thing going round and I think that has something to do with it. I seem to have done nothing but sleep this weekend after waking at stupid o'clock yesterday morning.

Hope Mrs doc isn't too bad. I'm sure she'll recover quickly if you offer plenty of hot drinks and TLC doc.

    Good morning all image

Hope Mrs Pdoc is feeling better soon.

I'm downstairs and breakfasted ...... I've had a proper shower image

As I came downstairs I said to OH 'I can smell hot croissants' ... he said that next door were breakfasting outside .......... but HE WAS FIBBING!!!

Look what was in the oven ... he'd taken frozen ones out of the freezer last night and they'd risen overnight and he'd baked them while I was in the shower.

    image

We've had a lovely breakfast of croissants with my raspberry jam and really tasty coffee, and now he's out there mowing the grass image

I think there's a lot of viral catch up form all those nasty bugs in the winter.  Can leave anyone feeling tired and lifeless without politics on top.    Take it easy FG and look after your OH Pdoc.

Very pleased to see that a third of USA states are joining together to stick to the Paris agreement regardless of what the Trump and federal govt do and that some of the Oceania countries are signing up to the no plastics in the ocean agreement.  We'll get there yet.

24C in the shade now so I'm in for lubrication before carrying on.  I seem to have a positive forest of miniature bindweed coming up from very deep down in the silk tree bed.   It's going to need constant vigilance and a day to dry out any teeny bits I miss before I can plant and water again.

Painting is indoors or under cover and in the shade.   The house is, thankfully, very cool but I might go and sunbathe later or Ill never get my legs brown cos of wellies for gardening.

    Any going spare Dove? image

Not had anything to eat yet - just tea.

Just reading the comments about the plant thingy. I can't get excited about most of the choices frankly. I don't see how one plant can be the 'most influential'. It's how we put them together....

    Discuss!  image

Odd choices for me too.   I agree the way we use plants is more important than the what but also think that has changed a lot since my youf at least, if only because the choice of plants available in easily accessible shops like supermarkets has changed.

Help yourselves ...... we've had our share image

Re the plant thingy .... I still think the plant that's had the most influence on gardens (whether for good or ill)  in the last however many years is Cupressus Leylandii .......... just imagine how our gardens were before they appeared on the scene ... people chatting over the fence etc .... now we get so many queries from people who think they can't enjoy their garden without screening off and shutting out the rest of the world with a wall of monotone green ....

Morning all.  Rather late in surfacing today so just having first cuppa.

A croissant would be very nice Dove.

Pat, I'd rather have rain than horrible mist.

pdoc,   earn Brownie points.  You know your OH deserves the TLC.

Dry but very windy again. Ideal for drying the washing.
