    Good morning all.

    Rained heavily overnight ,still raining.

Had a bad night. Cats fighting In the garden. Went out early hours to find that the cats had killed a beautiful collared dove. I love cats and have three of my own ,but I have a closed cat run in the garden.

Hosta: I've not read the link yet but I've friends who are officers. When the first incident happened and the public were reassured that extra police would be put on patrols we all knew this didn't mean picking a few out of the cupboard or finding spares that were unused in the station, but rather cancelling all leave, all rest days, adding hours on to shifts, and pushing their limited capacity to the very limit.

Around here the fire service helped out by adding a "physical presence" of their crews and engines stationed strategically at points around the city to try and make it look like they'd managed to bolster numbers.

I worry about the mental and physical health of our officers (although the fact that I'm always buying the coffee or a bag of sweets or a sandwich might not help their physical health as much!)

    Morning all.

    That sounds dramatic, Mary.

I have a wardrobe like that, Topbird, have put on 2 sizes in the last 10 years, don't eat more than I did and have cut down on carbohydrates, but nothing happens.

It will be a gardening day today, when the bread is made and the washing in on the line.

On more positive news I've just seen a chicken run I really like and his lordship still owes me a birthday present.

Let's see if the message I've just sent him is a BIG ENOUGH HINT.

We've 3 ex police officers recently come to work at Waitrose, and I'm afraid the all tell the same story Clari. Over worked and underappreciated.

Can offer the glimmer of hope on the wardrobe front??

Last year I dug out jeans and shirts I'd not worn in over 10, maybe even 15 years and I'm still wearing them this year. Well, they've been washed and back in the wardrobe, but you know what I mean....image

OH is having a strop.   Rose and clem borders Plan A was to have them surround a seating area of  chipped bark on weed membrane and have a table and chairs there for morning coffee in the early sunshine.  He set about digging out an area 6m x 4m for the seating space but the decided he wasn't going to get it level enough to be stable so wanted to do plan B - decking.   I vetoed that because of rats and maintenance and short life and not doing it again when I'm 70 so we came up with plan C - a smaller paved area surrounded by membrane and chipped bark to keep down weeds and conserve moisture.   Bingo.

Except that now we have to redraw the seating area and move back some of the soil he's dug out because I only want 2 levels and he's thrown down his tools and stropped.

What's he doing now?  Hoeing the gravel on the drive to get rid weeds........

Tbird and Busy - I ditched a lot of the wrong shaped shoes when we moved but still have clothes "I'll get into one day".  I get close and then we have a bunch of visitors or a festive holiday or I break atoe and it all goes pear shaped again.
