Punkdoc I too watched the Concert with my children, seeing the emotion of the young people there was very touching. I never heard of Arianna Grande either and agree what a credit to her generation and to her organising the concert, her last song was very emotional and she gave it her all. Brilliant!
Decamped off to his family this weekend so am now tired with high blood pressure. Fortunately i have today off work and what a lovely list of chores await. It's big for a big shop for dog food, a big food shop for us, then 4 -5 hours of preparing dog meals for the freezer, the washing, ironing, that's just the start.
Apparently this weekend was to celebrate my birthday (two weeks ago); I would rather have had the weekend to relax and get jobs done in a more timely manner than sit listening to all the bickering. Next time we go down I might be forced to crush up sleeping tablets in everyone's drinks.
Clari - your OH definitely needs some training! What is he thinking? Birthday with ratty in-laws? I suggest you take him to yours for his next birthday and prime them to be on best bad behaviour. Alternatively, organise something you really want to do for his birthday that he may not necessarily enjoy and then explain why afterwards. Repeat till he learns.
My OH dragged me off to hs golf club yesterday for prize giving after a competition. He didn't win anything. Just wanted to be there and maybe meet a few people. All very well but he was waylaid, upon entering, by a very interesting Scot who has a French wife who doesn't speak English and an Irish couple who think the local French are racist because they won't talk to them. Not surprising as they don't speak French.... Doh!
Scottish chap told Lester about a "private" competition group in the club that was worth getting into and the way to do that was to go for lunch as it's all organised by chappy who runs the restaurant. I can cope with lunch but not the rest.
Starting early today. Painting a wall and window sill, painting furniture, cleaning house and then, finally, some planting in time for the rain they're promising. Only 1 or 2 mm but it's the thought that counts.
How is everyone today? Well I hope - or recovering if ill or injured.

Try not to overdo it - take it a bit easier and enjoy the peace and quiet.
ive been trying to sort out my art/craft room (should call it a junk room). Now that HRH has gone, I'll be able to use it again. The trouble was that if I wasn't sitting on the lounge chair, she'd get very agitated and spend her time jumping on and off. If I sat in my art room, even with a nice soft bed for her near me, she used to run in and out of the room all the time. It drove me crazy - couldn't concentrate.
Im looking forward to settling into it again. I havent painted for a few years.
Morning Obelixx. Your golf club experience sounds a bit off-putting. I don't envy you
Im feeling a bit proud of the amount of things I've sorted in my room so far. I came across a pile of Christmas cards that I'd dumped in there after Christmas, and I just know they are headed for the bin, but my conscience won't let me until I've checked them all in case there's something I need to make a note of. Things such as change of address or telephone no.
Ob: in fairness to my other half he thought we were going to celebrate grandparents wedding anniversary and had no idea why we had to go all the way down for a weekend of sitting around only to have to do it again for father's day two weeks later.
My family are only up the road; had I known it was MY weekend I might have gone to see them! Or at least expected them to have been invited to the BBQ?
Now I've got to hope my parents don't find out we were down there so they don't get the grump about not seeing me for months on end.
One year I'm going to ask him to spend Christmas in our own house for once.

Hi all
Managed to grab lap top for a few minutes.
Have to admit to being a bit the worse for wear, got a bit emotional watching the concert.
Not my taste in music, but the kids were so good. Had never heard of Arriane Grande before this, but what a credit to her generation.
You can always rely on Coldplay, what a great version of Don't Look Back in Anger.
So many stories of heroism on the news today, we will not be broken.
Out canvassing tomorrow, not sure my heart is in it.

The concert must have been very good. Glad everyone enjoyed it. I wonder of we'll see it repeated here?

Morning Clari. That sounds like a good plan

Yes Obelixx, it is quite rewarding. I still haven't managed to get the stains out of the Berber carpet yet, but it's on the list.

It may provoke war.
