OH often gets the vacuum and dusters out unbidden in this household ... a discussion yesterday evening revolved around the fact that as I'm older than him I just don't see the dust like I used to ... and I'm not going to dust anything that I can't see needs dusting am I?
I did offer to ask the optician for stronger glasses for housework so I can see the dust ... the thought of how I (a fully liberated lady) might explain this to the optician had OH in fits of laughter ...
We decided that we'll continue as we are ... he'll remove the dust that he can see and I'll remove the dust that I can see ... I've a feeling I've got the best of that bargain

I see dust. OH doesn't, but he does do floors and ironing and occasional tidying and loading and unloading of dishwasher. Good luck with the optician. You should try it just for fun.

BL and others with rheumaticky bits, I was told about Rosehip. Had tried all the other things with no difference. This worked in three weeks. It's natural and,the bit I like, made here.
Woofie and I been "visiting" this afternoon. It really is amazing how folk remember their dogs and eventually many can remember the names too. Such a rewarding hour but we are both very hot.
Clari, my grannie always said "start as you mean to go on" share the chores!

When he started work in his early 20s a suit and tie were required and he liked his shirts to look clean and crisp so took up ironing. I got him at about 30 and we did a deal - he could watch sport on TV if he did the ironing instead of just sitting there. Done - so I taught him how to iron properly and he did my work blouses too. I wash, he irons. I cook so he does dishes.
We wear a lot of natural fibres and like ironed sheets so he's just carried on. Sky+ means endless sport to watch. Since he chose it, he also gets to wield the bloody Dyson. I dust and also wash floors.
Feeling antsy now. Too hot to do owt but too much energy to do nowt.

When I was a respectable married person in her early 30s, my husb was a school governor. A new teacher had been appointed and a drinks evening was held to introduce him to a few people in the village. I welcomed the young man in his mid 20s who had moved from South Wales to a small village in rural Suffolk and said that if there was anything he needed he only had to ask my husband or me.
Just a couple of days later I saw him drive into our yard and take a laundry basket out of his car and walk over and knock on the door ............ he explained that he had washed and dried his shirts but he didn't know how to iron them ... his Mam had always done that ... and I had offered to help hadn't I?
He really expected me to do his ironing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told him I would iron one shirt and he would watch. He would then iron one shirt and I would watch.
He would then go back to his cottage and do his own ironing. I knew there was an iron and ironing board in the cottage because I knew the owners well and we'd gone through the cottage together.
He was absolutely gobsmacked ......... but he did as he was told
