Hello to everyone. I hope Punkdoc is feeling more cheerful and can get outside to potter around in his garden. Nothing like it to cheer a person up. Joyce, I hope OH is a bit perkier today. Maybe the transfusions were too much too soon. Clari, re. The flowering cherry, do you have another suitable tree in another location that you can graft a bit onto? It seems a shame not to be able to keep such a lovely one. Dove, I'm glad the leg is slowly getting there. It certainly takes a lot of patience getting strong again. I remember what it was like when I had a fall in 1997 and broke a bone in BOTH wrists. I had what they call a "wineglass" plaster on both arms. I couldn't do much of anything for weeks. I do remember that Hubby enjoyed showering with me while I had both arms (in plastic bags) held up out of the way of the water. I never did pay him back for those times. I was so pleased to get the plasters off.
I enjoyed all the other things people are doing But have forgotten most of it, Yourvweather sounds very summery.
You broke both wrists?? Oh I can't imagine how frustrating that was like Pat!
I'm off to a meeting in Nottingham today. The city centre car park is insanely expensive so I'm going to attempt park and ride. Only I don't understand trams and don't think it's going near where I want to it'll be park and a 1.3 mile stroll. Still; I do need my exercise!
A bit late on parade this morning ... internet glitch ... initially between hub and t'internet and then, when that had been sorted, everything here was convinced it was still out of action .... much turning off and on again and now we're up and running (Well, I'm not running, but you know what I mean )
Pat ... that must have been difficult ... I remember a gardener I know choosing to have carpel tunnel surgery on both her wrists at the same time so that she only missed one season in her garden ... she said that her husband had to do 'everything for her' ... even apply her mascara!
Joyce ... fingers crossed that OH will be home soon ... as I'm sure you know giving fluids can help sort out chemical imbalances which may be exacerbating confusions so will be well worth while in the long term, but it must be hard for both of you for him to be in strange surroundings with strange people caring for him. ((hugs))
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Yes the double wrist time is best forgotten. The irony, was that I had just had a job interview upstairs, and came down to the ground floor level, stepped out into the shady footpath under a shop awning, and didn't realise there was a step down onto pavement. Put both hands out to catch myself and broke the triquetral bone in both wrists. ( I was offered the job, which involved typing) so you can imagine that I wasn't happy. I had to refuse the offer. I did have an hilarious conversation with the receptionist who wanted me to sign a form after the X-rays and I'd had both plasters put on. I held up both my arms, which were designed to prevent my thumb reaching my fingers, and said how am I going to hold the pen? Sometimes you wonder who they employ in those jobs.
Was cooler this morning, 15°, opened all the windows last night to cool the house down. Bedroom had been 26°. But it will get hot later. Must plant my last 3 dahlias first. Then some HW and make daughter's bed, then make pork pies and chocolate mousse. Raspberries will need picking again, but may do it tomorrow morning before going to son's.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have read, don't know whether it is true, that £5000 would have been enough to use a more fire resistant cladding on the flats.
It is compulsory to have sprinklers on hotels, but not in blocks of flats.
What kind of world are we living in ?
I hope your OH gets home Joyce, it must be a worrying time.
Hope to get outside to contemplate my navel. At least there are plenty of fledglings to amuse me. The grey wagtail chicks are still around, how lucky I am to have such beauty outside my front door.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team

Keep safe everyone.
Hi Clari. I hope your day is good. We've been cold here today.
Morning Pat, Clari and others as they arrive.
Pat, I was bad enough last year with one wrist out of action so life must have very difficult for you without the use of both wrists.
A slight nip in the air this morning but the sun is making an appearance.
Hoping that OH might get home but there was talk of giving him IV fluids.
Good morning all

Joyce, my best wishes for you and Hubby.
Morning all.
Hugs and hope for you, Joyce and your OH.

Hi all.
Can't quite work out how I feel today.
I veer from sadness to incredible anger.
I have read, don't know whether it is true, that £5000 would have been enough to use a more fire resistant cladding on the flats.

S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
I had baby wagtails this year for the first time. Blue tits all up and gone, but I see babies on the feeders.
No sign of the long tailed tits which were around earlier. I reckon something nasty found their nest.
Most of the baby blue tits are feeding themselves now and going through the sunflower hearts at speed.
No sign of long tailed tits since they went off to nest.
Pdoc you have a lovely garden where you can sit and contemplate.Hope your OH is feeling better.
