Had to turn off the news and go and potter. Can't bear the thought of fire destroying homes and lives even when accidental and nothing to do with builders/architects/planners getting it so badly wrong thru incompetence or greed or stupidity.
It's warm here after a thundery night with some rain. Feels pleasant so OK for pottering about between cleaning and tidying and painting and pottering. OH has disappeared off to golf leaving me to field the chipped bark delivery when it arrives.
Good to see FG and LGL popping in. Greetings to all.

"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
It's truly horrific. The residents action group warned of something like this last year, sadly.
As far as the donations of stuff to help the people who have lost everything are concerned, there are already people in my local area and the neighbouring areas (which are about as far the other side of London as it's possible to be) collecting items and driving them straight up to where they are needed. If this is happening in every other similar area (and I'm sure it is) there will be literally hundreds of vans of emergency clothing etc on their way right now. I know my former colleagues are doing the same, as they are much more nearby. I'm off to drop a few things at the collection point in a short while.
This should not have happened.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Gardening just doesn't seem fun anymore with all these sad things going on.
Those poor families. I just hope that somehow not many people died. We are all glued to the news at the moment. Feeling a little helpless here in Yorkshire but there are some funds being collected so atleast we have that option.

There's been talk of power surges. Can a power surge cause a fridge to "explode"?
On a brighter note ... we have hedgehog poo in the garden for the first time in over a year

Just to give you some idea of what they need.
My friend's house burned down several years ago and she was left with a nightie, a pair of pants and a necklace. Her worldly goods.
It may seem flippant ... but frightened children separated from their families can gain a lot of comfort from a cuddly toy.

Yes, cuddly toys and nappies in the bag.

Another awful day for our country.
People must have been so frightened - that's what upsets me the most - your home should be a safe place.
