Been outside planting a veronicastrum and dahlias.

The French Election results of the first round for deputés (MPs) are in. Looks as though the French are still supporting the new President, Emmanuel Macron, the new En Marche! party are doing very well. Second round of voting next Sunday. It's quite amazing really, the usual parties are being voted out by something completely new with no previous MPs.

I find it fascinating B-L. I was thinking a new party might be the way ahead in Britain. A sort of amalgam of Labour, Liberal and Green.

We have been having the same conversation. When something is so damaged it is often better to scrub it all and start again.

I suppose this would be the worst possible time to do it with all that looms ahead of the country

Dove, you're no doubt right about the wool. The shop my pair went to are not interested in giving serviceimage, and as you say, it's not a large garment.

Hope you had a great holiday GWRS!

Well the good news: I'm not diabetic (last week's blood test) and I'm within the "normal" levels so we can cross that off the list "things that might be wrong with me".

Unfortunately I have to go back to the start in terms of trying to get a doctor's appointment to see what is the sensible way forward (no easy battle with how far the doctors are stretched around here). I wish sometimes I could just drop an email brain storming ideas! I'm sure they must think me an awful patient; most of my appointments feel like "I've got x y z flaring up so I'm going to do g f h and I'm already doing k j l but... I'm not a doctor so can you just check I've not missed anything?!"

Still; no diabetes means the kettle is on and there will be chocolate brownies in the oven shortly!

Frustrating Clari.   Sounds like you need that Doctor in the House chappy to come and stay with you and see what's going on.

    Enjoy your brownies.

The end to painting is in sight!  Just a second coat to do o the wardrobe door and it's drop down shelf and another coat on the chair seats.  Then a mega house clean, grass cutting before a few days off as we've got friends coming to stay and outings planned.

Rasta has rolled in something unspeakable and stinks so will be straight in the bath after walkies.  'Orrible dog.  Hairdresser tomorrow so she'll get new nail varnish.

Hello everyone image  What a lovely day I've had image

First son arrived and left like a whirlwind ... popping in for no more than 10 mins .... a quick discussion of political situation ... a plea for me to get rid of the zimmer asap (it upsets him as he thinks I'm turning into Ma image) and off he went to Lincs then somewhere down south .... he's probably back home by now.

Then Wonky arrived and worked wonders in my garden .... weeding, cutting back, Chelsea chopping, dead heading, planting out, potting on, tieing in, watering ... you name it and she did it absolutely perfectly ... I'm sure her new employers think they've got an absolute star!

OH came back from his shopping expedition with a good pattern and some great yarns image

He then made us some great bacon and tomato baps for lunch while I sat outside pinching out the tomato side shoots .... I've actually done some gardening!!! image

And not only did she bring me a load of plants for my garden but a lovely present of a hand made and hand painted absolutely beautiful wooden garden trug ............. so chuffed!

We've filled it with pots of pretty flowers and put it on the table on the terrace image

Now she's on her way home ... hope she has a good journey ... I tried not to fuss and make her anxious .... it's the first time she's driven here on her own since she passed her test ... it was so lovely to see her pull up in her car outside our house, full of smiles image

Now OH is cooking plaice fillets and broad beans in parsley sauce, with new potatoes and I've got my feet up with a big smile on my face.

I'd better read back and see what you've all been up to ..................
