The BBC have just said there are no health concerns re the Queen or Duke of Ed.
I suspect HM is going to move to Windsor 'full time' rather than live in Buck House ... after all there's going to be huge building works at BH very soon ... a friend who's been in the office areas says it's all frayed electrical flex, peeling paintwork and crumbling plaster. I'm sure the State Rooms will still be used when needed, but I'm sure it's more restful living at Windsor and more suitable for an elderly couple. Charles has part of Kensington Palace so he'll be available to pop over to Buck House for investitures and the like ... and of course that way, if The Donald is visiting later in the year, at least he can stay in Buck House if he wants to, but HM won't be forced to have her bedtime Horlicks with him.
Or maybe she'll spend more time up here in Norfolk with us
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thinking about it ... I suspect that Windsor Castle is possibly thought to be less vulnerable to security breaches than Buck House which doesn't have a good record in that respect.
I've just heard from Wonky ... looks like she's potting on and pricking out etc in one of the greenhouses today

Fake news if they are having their usual annual meeting. Can't understand why, when she has milions of dosh, she hasn't kept up the maintenance on her home. We all do don't we? Expect Sandringham, Balmoral ad Windsor will be in the same state then.
Weather variable here too and always a major topic of conversation in Belgium too. Chilly this morning with a northerly blow so sewing this morning and then, assuming it's warmed up, sowing this pm. Had to buy some fresh sweetcorn seeds yesterday as the perishing rodents have been in my seded store and scoffed the lot but left the beans and peas.
Hope you get to bag you boggy hills FG. Lovely birds. We had lesser egrets in our paddock yesterday - lovely too but not exactly garden birds.
LG - the lovely thing about not working is that you can be a fair weather gardener. I used to be fine in my 30s doing gardening blitzes on a free weekend, whatever the weather, but not so good in 40's, 50s or now I'm 27.
I need potting compost too and chipped bark. We were planning a bed of shrub roses and stuff on the outside of the newly fenced "courtyard" but have discovered a drainage pipe leading across it from the house and only just under the surface plus there's an electrical junction box with massive cables at the hedge end. Bark and pots then.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Pay for the Monarch and next 3 in line. The rest can go find a job, take out a mortgage / rent a house and cope like the rest of us.
Grace and favour homes / palaces would make wonderful museum / gallery space for all the stuff "in storage" at other museums/ galleries and earn a few bob into the bargain.
Maybe after Brexit Phillip will be sent back to Greece?
I agree about only the direct family getting state incomes as long as they're pulling their weight to promote UK plc. They do, after all, bring in huge amounts of tourism and good will. They should, however, maintain their homes themselves and open more to the public when not in residence.. Happy for Price Philip to have a rest now. He's earned it.
Can I come and hide in your polytunnel Hosta? Mine isn't built yet.
On a brighter not, we've been looking for water butts for ages but balked at the prices - 250€ for 300litres. Just found some going at Super U for 60€. So glad we waited ad plan to go and fetch some home tomorrow. Bet sod's law says we'll have no more rain for ages.

if it was bad news, we'd have the sombre music scenario on radios

"not a cause for concern"
Prince Philip retiring from public duties in the autumn. Most of us retire before we reach 96 so he's done pretty well...
Morning all.
Off to visit a huge stately Norfolk home with our friends. Had a good meal in a local pub last night.

Yep ... think he's done his bit ... hope he's fit enough to do stuff he enjoys in his retirement.

Not a fan of the whole royal family bandwagon.
