Thanks very much for all your lovely words about HRH passing. It was dark by the time we got home yesterday, so I've wrapped her up in a little blanket and put her on her bed , so she had one last night with us in our bedroom. She looks as if she is still sleeping, just as she has been doing these last weeks.

we're finding it hard. We keep looking and listening for her. The last couple of weeks her eyesight failed completely, and that combined with being deaf, meant she was always stopping in the middle of where we were walking and had to be tapped gently to get her to keep going. She fell off the lounge chair a couple of times which shook the poor old thing up, until cuddles helped her.

The vet was very kind and after discussion, decided she had so many things wrong which her health that prevented him fixing, such as very bad teeth that needed to be removed, that we decided she should be put out of her misery.

Anyway, we have decided that we'll make a nice little grave down near the bird feeder, and we'll be able to look out at her and the birds at the same time.

Thanks again everyone. It just takes time to get over things like this,

Oh Pat, I have only just read this and I am so dreadfully sorry. Such a tiny animal but a huge space to fill.

I lost my 17yo cat Daisy before Christmas and despite having a small garden, decided to bury her here. Only just started gardening again this year but it is lovely to feel her close by.

Much thoughts are with you Pat.

Thanks for your caring thoughts Daisy.

This is a last photo of her before we took her down for burial This morning.

I couldn't get over how cold and stiff she was to pick up Even though I'd wrapped her up snuggle.

I am sure you wrapped her up well and snuggly and your daughter will be looking after her now.

Terrible sleep patterns Pat, helped me when I was a junior doctor and later as a Mum. Hope I haven't caught Hosta's problem... slugs and snails generally? image

Hope Susan and HRH are having a frolic tonight. image

Good morning all image  ((hugs)) for Pat.

Well, after our change of plan we've had another night in our own bed and will set off for Lincs this morning.

But first we'll need some coffee ...
