Home again. My daughter is seriously into gardening too. They bought their house last year and she's done masses, lawns re-sown, flower beds dug, wooden fence up, getting on for 100 roses planted, climbers up the house and fence and shrubs in beds. I left her planting 60 perennials that we bought in the nursery, really good value, 1.60€ each. She's a teacher and mother of 3 sons.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Obelixx, I love reading about Cosmos and Bonzo singing to each other and Rasta being jealous and  Minstrel just getting on with life. image I found a jigsaw yesterday by a French lady showing two white kittens with a small child touching noses. It made me think of Cosmos..image

We've got a warm morning here - probably about 22c. No breeze and altogether very nice. I might as well enjoy it before autumn gets really going. Some of our Pinoaks are changing colour.

The cyclone is still getting closer to Townsville - might hit Tuesday. The authorities are super prepared, so hopefully everyone will be ok. They are saying that because it is slow moving, it might take 12 hours to pass over, so people should ensure they've got medications and stocks of water etc on hand. I'm glad we aren't there.

catch you all in your morning.

Morning Pat and those still sleepy bo bos.

Mme Insomnia strikes again. Hey Ho.

Looked out to see if Spikey has been for supper. Nopeimage., but it's the most beautiful very bright starry night.( morning )

Looks like the last fine day for a while, so lots to do. I managed about 1/3 of the grass last night. Some of it is over 12" tall imageimage so the mower is struggling in places but I've got to get it finished today.

Hello Hosta. Still having sleep disruptions I see. Hopefully you've managed to nod off now.

Have you thought of using a strimmer first, before mowing?  It would make the going easier for the mower, particularly if you could take up the excess.image I'm sure you have. Teaching people what they already know image

    Hi Pat, Still awakeimage

The grass hasn't been cut since about October. We get so much rain ( sorry ) and have clay soil, so I can't take the ride on mower onto it as it just creates a quagmire. I'll finish it today ,then spend the rest of the summer getting it down to a nicer length. I'm set at 4" / 100mm now.

When it's short, it takes me between 5 and 7 hours to cut the whole lot , so I normally break it down and do different sections on different days.
