On a nice fluffy, plus note: I've been watching the long tailed tits this morning and they're consistently flying to and fro the same spot of a pine tree. Fingers crossed for babies.
Good night's sleep so thanks to all for tips on Tonic and hydration etc. Been busy this morning doing h****work cos there gets to a point where ignoring the dust in order to paint becomes untenable. OH was up very early to go and play golf so I can let the robot loose at will on the floors tho he does occasionally need rescuing. Hasn't learned not to get jammed under our bedroom radiator and gets tongue tied on the fringe of the landing rug. Other than that he's really very good.
It's sunny again and cool for now but I expect we'll get into the high teens again this pm which is good as I have some mimosa pruning to do while the paint dries. First though I have a few holes and gaps to fill before painting.
I don't understand the changing of clocks at all. There are still only 24 hours a day to get everything done tho I do think BST is more logical than GMT for general work and play and gardening daylight.
French hairdressers no good Busy? Enjoy your pampering.
Wonky - probably the best thing to do but do be careful not to wear yourself out trying to do it all at once.
Take care everyone, whatever you're up to today.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I don't seem to be able to communicate with French hairdressers, they never do the back layering properly. Sometimes it ends up far too short and other times they hardly cut any off. The one in the village here does it how I like it and friends in France say it looks nice. Late morning appointment.
I should be outside cutting down dead perennials in the front border.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning one and all! Hi Pat, if you're around.
Wow, Wonky - you're a glutton for punishment! Are you getting rid of all the hardcore as well? A skip might be called for, unless you can use it as the base for a patio or something. Good luck!
Hosta, you lucky thing having a long-tailed tits' nest! Hope they are successful and you get some photos...
I'm with you, Obelixx; I can't really understand why we need to change from BST at all. I know there's an argument about it being dark in the far north for people going to work in mid winter, but it's still the same number of hours of darkness overall, not some magical way of making the 24hr period lighter. I agree totally about light, bright mornings (preferably full of bird song) making me feel energised and ready for a day in the garden.
Re mop-chops: my niece, who lives in Beijing, went for a haircut to a local hairdresser, bearing with her a photo of the style she wanted. (Hard enough to explain in your native tongue what you want, let alone in a language in which you're not altogether fluent.) He looked at the photo, shook his head and cut her hair into a bob. "All ladies in Beijing like their hair like this..." She's now found an ex-pat hairdresser.
Fine drizzle and mist here so I'm stuck in, doing much needed cleaning (I'm away Thursday to Tuesday and OH won't clean while I'm away - it's not on his radar!). Also waiting for a delivery, a replacement part for the fridge in the cottage.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I know this "debate" happens every time the clocks change, but IMHO more people would benefit from lighter evening at this time of year ( in terms of fuel savings ) than the folk who benefit from being light at 6am ( relative to those up and about in the evenings )
I know there's only a given amount of daylight, but surely it should benefit the majority??

tsk, just googled it.
Gullible consumerism.

Driving later. 5 drops, drop 4 Boscastle, then on to Westward Ho! then back to store. roughly 80 miles between drop 4 and store.
Good luck with the lawn, Wonky.

Hosta - you ought to carry paying passengers ... I'm sure there'd be a demand
Enjoy the scenery!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Not encouraging Busy. I'm thinking of having layers in a month or so to keep the length but lose some weight for the hotter months.
How do Waitrose make a profit on an 80 mile delivery run?

I would like to find a way of having it light in the morning and in the evening.
