Thanks obelixx. Choir always does a big religious work for Easter time. Should have been the St. John's Passion, but so many people were ill and the Messiah is easier. Not really my cup of coffee either! I make sandwiches for the orchestra.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I just noticed that the April mags have arrived on my iPad. Gardeners World and Artists and Illustrators. Wish I'd noticed them this afternoon, I could have had a nice quiet read before the TV time started. Tomorrow maybe. I noticed a couple of familiar names on GW forum column, Fairy and Johnny.
Chappy has gone again. Off to his workshop to make a dooeberry to cover the hole where the old cooker hood went because, of course, the new one is jst a bit to the right. He's ever so clean and tidy and meticulous.
I'm on light h*****work duties. Bedroom shutter has been invaded and I found hundreds of dopey flies lying on the floor, legs up, or swarming round the window - so dozy I've hoovered them up with no escapees. Now to steam clean the shutter doings. I think there may be a birds' nest above the shutter and the source of flies so will send OH up a ladder when he gets back - just to check and then we can clean it all up when nesting is over.
Got to love a man who earns a PUMA.

Wish I had a helpful under gardener Dove. The chances of my OH being caught doing those sorts of jobs (especially without being asked!) are around zero or lower. He makes up for it in other ways though
Obx - your flies sound like cluster flies. We have a real problem with them in our attic (as does everyone down our road). They're not the same as ordinary house flies and are not as 'dirty' as normal flies. You see a lot of them at this time of year as they emerge from their winter sleepover and again in the autumn when they return.
We installed one of those UV zappers in the attic to help control them. Hasn't eradicated them but has significantly reduced the number that fall out whenever we open the loft hatch You can also use insecticide sprays and bombs but there are bats in the attic so we can't use those.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Thanks for that TB. I think you're right. There were loads when we arrived on the 1st of October but none when we were here in high summer. No attic here but there is a hatch to the roof space which we have not yet explored so maybe I can put some fly killer up there. Never had anything like this in the huge Belgian attic. Just the odd bluebottle.
OH is good at labouring in the garden but has to be supervised. I've taken to asking him to repeat some instructions/requests so he's really doing what I asked and not what he thinks I said.
It is glorious out there now. Must finish indoor jobs and go and have a gentle play in tthe garden.

Hello all! (Won't say Good Morning because it'll be afternoon by the time I post this...)
Dull and grey here this morning so I've been doing Useful Jobs (ie boring). But I can't really complain, having spent most of the past 3 days in the garden.
LG, are you planning a change of career? Best of luck for your last few days, and for the transition to whatever lies ahead. Exciting times!
I think the last time OH was in the garden was last summer...
Talk of flies in the house reminds me I must brave the attic, and try to find out where the wasps' nest is lurking. They were flying in under the gutter last year, so I suspect the nest may be in the wall where it meets the roof, and I won't be able to remove it. We've not seen any activity as yet this spring, so maybe the wasps have found a better site (we hope...)
Topbird, why don't your resident bats eat the cluster flies?? Perhaps they're farming them.
Fairy & Obelixx, easy does it with the sore muscles!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Good morning,
pouring here, suppose it couldn't last.
Has anyone seen punk? Hope he hasn't left us
A A Milne
No - he's still here LP. Taking a little break I think
Soul Messiah. There's two words you don't expect to see together
Hope you get a nice pot BL.
The end is nigh obelixx - if you know what I mean. Kitchen not world. Well, the way things are going, maybe the latter....
Rain's not arrived here yet LP. Looks like it's not faraway though.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I couldn't find OH ............. I thought he was in the studio so I went to ask if he wanted a cuppa .... he wasn't there
I found him out in the garden, finishing off digging the veg patch - now he's spreading the compost ... all unasked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm giving him the PUMA .............Perfect Undergardener's Merit Award
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
He's back indoors again ........... we've got heavy rain now.
Hope it doesn't dampen his enthusiasm
On the plus side, the compost is looking really fab
